Reviewed January 2024Bramble fruits and wild red berries, mint and spice clove, and Jentoft, Marine Layer, with smaller pieces of Gap's Crown, comprise the entry-level Pinot Noir from Marine Layer. It carries elegance through the country fruit spice of wild strawberries and rose hip aromas. On the palate, there's a feral fruit element. Wild spicy berries are given elegance and structure through the use of 30% whole cluster. Bergamot and black tea finish the wine with a savoury lift. (CP)

The 2022 Pinot Noir Lyra is juicy and super-expressive right out of the gate. Succulent red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and blood orange give the 2022 notable raciness. A whole range of floral and savory top notes lift the finish. The 30% stems are not especially noticeable. Vineyard sources are Marine Layer, Dutton-Jentoft, Bohemian and Gap's Crown. (AG)
