The 2023 Riesling Erdener Treppchen Auslese is shy on the nose. The palate offers riches of candied tangerine and white peach, showing the intensity of lemon and stone, edged with red apple and a lip-smacking, enticing line of acidity. It has beautiful intensity and absolute concentration. (Sweet)(AK)

Extremely firmly structured for a Mosel riesling Auslese, this is a very serious wine with tremendous energy and drive. The natural grape sweetness is pushed way into the background by the fennel and herbal freshness in the juicy and energetic finish. Drink from release.

The 2023er Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese was made from 50% botrytized fruit picked at 92° Oechsle and was fermented down to noble-sweet levels of residual sugar (77 g/l). This beautifully white-green-colored wine offers an engaging nose made of mint, bergamot, pineapple, elderflower, apricot blossom, whipped cream, and smoke. It is beautifully balanced on the palate, where zesty and fresh exotic fruits mingle with beautifully creamy elements. The finish is creamy yet also superbly racy and engaging. This gorgeous Auslese could eventually warrant a higher rating as its freshness and cut drive the flavors at maturity. This is very hard to resist. 2033-2048."
