The 2023 Le Battistelle "Roccolo del Durlo" comes from the single vineyard “Durlo hills” which stand as one of Soave's premier crus. The soil in the vineyard is mature black basalt and Tufo which helps the vines produce a full-bodied wine with mineral characteristics and texture structure. This wine has stone fruit again, but it has a more floral (chamomile, orange blossom) vibe to it. What I absolutely love about this wine is the flinty minerality and this beautiful almond note that makes the end of this wine long and memorable. The wine presents itself as deep and elegant with structured body and vibrant acidity which leads to a long saline finish that reveals its volcanic origin. This wine is fantastic now, but if you have time to wait, try it again in 5 years or so. It will get better year after year.
