Notes
Ark Vineyard is a unique geological site, rich in volcanic soils that span several geological periods, some as old as 60 million years. Located at the foot of Glass Mountain, just outside St. Helena, the vineyard is distinguished by the presence of black obsidian rock scattered across the land. These striking volcanic glass formations give the area its distinctive character. The vines are planted on hillsides that form a sweeping 180-degree arc, curving around parts of the lower-lying Chabot Vineyard. Covering around 13 acres, Ark is a mosaic of different blocks, clones, rootstocks, and row orientations, creating a diverse and dynamic growing environment. While its shape resembles an arc, the vineyard is also named "Ark" as a nod to Jayson Woodbridge's son, Noah. The first harvest from Ark Vineyard took place in 2005.
