Reviewed October 2024So aromatic and flavorful, and so firm, textural, earthy and peppery on the palate. Tightly layered, firmly tannic, trim and light-bodied. White pepper, raw beef, saline and mineral accents. Nearly untouched regarding sulfites. Drinkable now, but best from 2030. (JG)

The 2022 Syrah Estate is fabulous. It emerges from blocks at both Radian and Bentrock and was aged in 500- and 600-liter barrels plus one 10-hectoliter oval. Bright acids and tons of stem-induced savoriness cut through a core of blue/purplish fruit. This virile, explosive Syrah is lights-out.

Jammy blue fruits, ground pepper, violets, and smoked meat-like notes all emerge from the 2022 Syrah Estate, a big, medium to full-bodied, grippy, structured Syrah that has a balanced mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. Coming from the Radian (63%) and Bentrock (37%) vineyards, both in the Sta. Rita Hills, it’s a fabulous Syrah to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years.
