This pure Meunier from Troissy old vines is one of my top wines from my spring trip to Champagne this year. Showing off the strength of the great 2019 vintage, which the producers compare to 2002 and 2012, this wine has the great sourdough toast as well as the tarte tatin charm of a super cleanly made meunier. If you are looking for concentration and grace in the same package- look no further! This dry finishing bottle has a super fine bead and class to spare. Incredible value for money!

Generously fruited and powerfully concentrated, the 2019 Gilbert Jacquesson Brut Champagne seamlessly blends rich brioche and a beautiful bouquet of crisp apple, juicy tangerine, and ripe strawberries with fresh, zippy acidity. The result is sunshine in a bottle; both toasty yet crisp and decidedly impossible not to jump from sip to glorious sip until the bottle finds itself empty.

I love it when Champagne combines elegance and brightness with concentration and powerful fruit. It's exactly what I find in this vintage of Gilbert Jacquesson. I enjoy very much its richness of ripe citrus and supple apple notes with beautiful acidity and touch of brioche. It's a great Champagne to enjoy on its own as an aperitif and also pair it with richer seafood like lobster or scallops.
Notes
This wonderful vintage Champagne is composed exclusively from old-vine selection massal Pinot Meunier. The two plots it comes from are Les Chaillots, planted in 1970, and Les Jenne Craux, planted in in 1969. The dosage is kept low, at six grams per liter, and it has both power and also refreshment.
