Reviewed August 2023This is self-confidently old-fashioned and with good reason. A rich and fleshy Gewurz with plenty of concentration and textural complexity, this is more spicy than exotic with only a hint of the supposedly classic lychee aroma of the grape. Long finish without any hint of warmth in spite of 14.5% alcohol. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Gewurztraminer Pfersigberg Grand Cru was harvested in the very heart of the grand cru, with just 70cm of clay on top of limestone. Rose and peach hints appear on the subtle nose. The palate is rich with the ripest Mirabelle plum, edged with bitter orange pith and almond skin. There is a smooth, peachy sweetness on the aromatic, pleasantly bitter finish. (Medium) (NM)
