Linear and fragrant, this lovely red opens with scents of woodland berry, blue flower, cake spice and botanical herb. On the focused, vibrant palate, nervous acidity and fine-grained tannins accompany red cherry, white pepper and licorice.

The Barale Fratelli 2020 Barolo del Comune di Barolo is a pretty wine with balanced intensity, dark fruit flavors, blue and purple fruits, light spice and camphor ash. There is something herbal with a hint of grilled rosemary and tar. These wines from Barale Fratelli tend to show bigger, more monotone styles, but they are elegant nonetheless. This wine is the most mildly textured of them all. It ferments in steel and ages in French oak casks for 30 months. Production is 3,700 bottles. (ML)

The 2020 Barolo del Comune di Barolo is a terrific entry-level offering from Barale. Sweet, open aromatics meld into a core of dark red-toned fruit. Cedar, sweet spice, tobacco, mint and kirsch are nicely pushed forward. Best of all, the 2020 should drink well with minimal cellaring. (AG)

Super spicy and forward, it's not for the faint of heart. This our exclusive Barolo that we bring in directly from the winery. And to us it rappresent the best compromise between value and quantity. The winery was first founder in 1870 in the heart of the Village of Barolo and it is still family run. This Barolo comes from estate vineyards in Barolo and Monforte d’Alba creating a great blend between power and elegance. This 2020 is beautiful, with the classic aromas of wild cherry, dried rose and this nice light spice that bring everything together. Barale only used native yeast and traditional Slavonian oak cask for this wine. Such of an old school wine. And in Barolo, this makes me happy.
