The Wine Independent
Reviewed November 2022The 2017 Les Grandes Crayeres Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut is 100% Chardonnay, disgorged in January 2021 and with less than 5 g/L dosage. It slips gracefully, sensuously out of the glass with notes of honeysuckle, lime blossoms, sea spray, and yellow apples, followed by suggestions of powdered ginger and cashew butter. The palate is lively and dry without the slightest sense of tartness, featuring loads of mineral and citrus layers, finishing with a lime zest and creamy juxtaposition that is just cerebral enough to keep you coming back for more of this stunning wine. Vinous
Taken from two parcels in Chavot planted in 1953 and 1978, Laherte's 2017 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Grandes Crayères 1er Cru is a wine of subtlety and nuance. There is a feeling of translucence here that is so appealing. The 2017 doesn't quite have the resonance of last year's release but it is very fine nonetheless. Pretty floral notes linger. Dosage is 2-4 grams per liter. Disgorged: January, 2021. (AG)

James Suckling
Although this is only from 2017, it already tastes pretty mature with overripe-pear and dried-apple aromas. A bold and generous mouthful with plenty of depth at the crisp finish. Pretty long, though not overly complex. From vines planted in 1953 and 1978. The first fermentation in barriques.
