A medium-bodied red with dark cherries, plums, grilled herbs and baking spices. Fine tannins with a core of dark berries, chocolate and spices on the palate and a juicy finish. From organically grown grapes.

Explosive aroma of boysenberry, black currant, dark plum, violet, rosemary, hint of anise, and a touch of leather. On the palate, ripe black and red berries, notes of spicy-savory dried herbs, plenty of cracked black pepper on the finish. Great value, would be perfect with grilled meats!

On the drier side with moderate tannin. Black cherry, red confit, cocoa powder, fresh spice. The finish is long and lingering with a soft tartness. Very nice to drink now but, I have the suspicion that it will also keep for at least a couple of years. A great bargain among a current flood of great values form this region.

Notes

Mas Karolina is the project of Caroline Bonville, cousin of Olivier Bonville proprietor of one of our favorite Champagne houses Franck Bonville. Caroline originally hails from Bordeaux where much of her family still resides. Looking for her own property, she settled in the village of Maury located in the Roussillon. There, her restrained sensibilities are making some of the most pristine, clean and balanced wines in the region. Based on a mix of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan, her vines are located in and around the village of Maury with its amazing brown schist soils and Lesquerde known for its granite.
