Reviewed July 2023The 2021 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard is gorgeous, with a floral perfume of fresh roses, raspberry eau de vie, fresh coniferous herbs, and spice. Medium-bodied, this stunning wine has wonderful transparency, with fine sweet tannins, ripe red berries, and fresh flowers. Its fabulous, mineral-laced texture lasts for days, and while it will certainly have serious longevity, it’s irresistible now. Drink 2023-2043. (AF)
Notes
Antonio Galloni writes in Vinous: "This is a fabulous set of wines from Ehren Jordan and his team at Failla. The 2021s are dark, potent Pinots that capture all the intensity of this drought vintage. Stem inclusion is high, 45-50% on average. Generally, the wines on the coast see even more stem inclusion, in the 40-100% range, while wines from the Russian River and more inland sites see closer to 20-25% stems." (08/2023)
