Ripe and slightly more layered aromas include those of pear, apple and better Chablis typicity, especially with its subtle ocean spray character. There is also better vibrancy and volume to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that deliver good if not truly distinguished length on the clean, dry and refreshing finale. This could be enjoyed upon release or aged for a few years to good effect.

A light lemon and lime colour. There is clearly more fruit concentration here. Machine picked, mostly stainless steel, plus some older foudres. The bouquet remains on the austere side. Tightly coiled with a good mineral fruit, a wine which will continue to climb over the next three years, even though will be long since sold out and probably drunk. The St Martin has a significantly longer finish.

Starts out rich, offering peach, green plum and lemon flavors. Reveals mineral hints as the finish turns sharper and evokes lemon. (BS)

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Usually an assembly of about 42 hectares from 60 hectares, with separate elevage – many terroirs – using old foudres 15% for the elevage. The aim is to add a little density. Never the same parcels used, always selected blind. In bottle a few weeks now. This is the definitive assembly but not the last bottling of this cuvée. A sweetness of fruit in this width of aroma – some Chablis character her. Hmm – that’s really very good – energy, salinity, growing with some citrus bitters in the finish." (03/2023)
