Reviewed February 2023The La Loma vineyard is now owned by Miguel Merino, which is great news for fans of this remarkable cuvée of Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha. Superseding the challenges of the 2020 vintage, this lovely field blend has subtle reduction, plum and wild strawberry fruit, spicy tannins, understated oak and undertones of clove and liquorice.
Notes
La Loma is a 1.4-hectare parcel of co-planted Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha in Briones on red clay and limestone soils. After the grapes were harvested they had a 3 day cold soak prior to fermentation in stainless steel. The wines were then aged in 500L French oak barrels for 14 months.
