Burghound
Reviewed April 2023Note: a .67 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines
This is a ripe 2021 as the liqueur-like of cherry, raspberry and softly wooded aromas are unusual in the context of the vintage. I very much like the generous and sophisticated texture of the detailed middleweight flavors that culminate in a youthfully austere, compact and sneaky long finish. This is beautifully well-balanced if tightly wound so at least some patience is strongly suggested. *Burghound Outstanding!*

Decanter
A liltingly fresh, light-bodied wine with a pale ruby hue and cranberry and pomegranate aromas. The texture is light and fine, with crisp acidity but no acerbity, and there is a refreshing purity to the fruit and a lingering finish. The grapes come from a small 0.10-hectare parcel at the top of the slope planted with relatively young vines that look southeast in thin clay soils over limestone. Completely destemmed and gently extracted during a long fermentation on native yeasts, the wine is still aging in cask (30% new). (CC)
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "Right at the top of the hill of Beaune. Lots of young vines were planted in 2013. Super floral with another good base of minerality. Wider with a mm or two of extra depth to the texture. Another wine that’s just too delicious for its age – but with an exquisite balance that will easily take it to its 20th birthday and beyond… Bravo! The last impression a chalky tannin on the tip of my tongue." (01/2023)
