Reviewed December 2022Medium-deep red-purple colour with a smoked-meat/charcuterie bouquet, a note of dried florals too. A complex bouquet which is intense and alluring. This translates to the palate, where it is sweet-fruited and charming, with gorgeous flavour and mouth-feel. The fruit-sweet core is succulent, the flow beautifully even and lingering. A blend of MV6, C777 and C115 clones from the 2008-planted Henk vineyard at Woori Yallock. Approximately 20% whole bunches. Matured in both 300L and 500L casks (less than 10% new). A bright, medium cherry red. Ripe and lifted with dark fruits, rose petals and spice. Even better on the palate, which is sumptuous yet fine with satiny tannins rounding out an impressive wine that will provide lots of pleasure... (PR)

Mineral, smoky and littered with exotic woodsiness (sandalwood incense, primarily), this 2021 Local Vineyard Series Henk Pinot Noir has more grunt and muscle than the Willowlake wine. The extension of fruit through the finish is impressive, but the highlight is surely the tannins, which are looser knit but present and shapely.
