Reviewed November 2022No whole bunches here, with 25% new wood for the elevage. A little deeper in purple than the Chambolle, with a fine dark raspberry fruit. Drier wood tannins behind but they will integrate as there is a very adequate level of fruit. Plenty of energy to finish. Drink from 2025-2030

A much earthier and more deeply pitched nose reflects notes of plum, dark currant and a whiff of red pinot fruit. There is better volume and richness if not the same refinement to the nicely textured and persistent finale that gradually reveals a touch of austerity.

The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village is tightly wound on the nose, yet there is a little more fruit concentration vis-à-vis the preceding Chambolle-Musigny. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite lively with a delineated, black pepper tinged finish that urges you back for more. Early-drinking, but still well crafted. (NM)
