2020 Charles Baur Sylvaner Alsace

Domaine Baur produces wine from 12 hectares (30 acres) of vines of which 3 hectares are in the Grand Cru Eichberg and Pfersigberg. The terroir is composed mainly of clay and old limestone and marl which give the wines of Domain Baur a rich creaminess and depth of flavor as well as an interesting complexity in both the aromas and flavors. The Eichberg Grand Cru faces southeast and benefits from the warm & dry microclimate generated by its location at the base of the Vosges Mountains. The soils are mainly limestone conglomerates and marls with lots of broken sandstone mixed with clay and sand and small stones.
