This is a lovely, elegant wine. The nose is full of cherries and graphite, and the body is light with a lively acidity. There's some subtle hints of mushroom and violet, and some nicely plush tannins, as well.

"Aux Fournaux" is robust and powerful expression of Burgundy with great depth and structure. It has bright pomegranate, black cherry and savory herb notes with fresh acidity and firm body. It's a great companion to richer dishes and will age well for a long time.

This awesomely priced Savigny Les Beaune has a slightly smoky nose with Bing cherry fruit. Nice initial brightness on the palate which then expands into black cherries and baking spices. Clean, yet relatively plush. As the review says, straddles the line nicely between "Old World" and "New World". This one should likely please nearly everyone!
Notes
Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. Giboulot's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and purity.
