Reviewed June 2022A background hint of smoke is present on the cool and fresh citrus-suffused aromas of mostly apple and pear that exhibit a floral top note. The moderately voluminous medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing mouthfeel while exuding a subtle bead of minerality on the dry, lemony and sneaky long finale. This too could easily be enjoyed after only 2 to 3 years of bottle aging.

Aromas of stone fruits, citrus zest, toasted nuts and smoke introduce the 2020 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Pièce Sous Le Bois, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and lively wine that's bright and mineral, concluding with a saline finish.
The 2020 vintage has turned out quite nicely chez Domaine Paul Pernot, where the house style remains fleshy, giving and front-loaded. For now, the domaine's wines are made in much the same way that they always have been: whole-cluster pressed, barrel fermented and matured for some 11 months, with bottling before the next harvest. After embracing DIAM wholeheartedly with the 2019 vintage, we're now back to natural cork (of superior quality) for the higher appellations and DIAMs for the rest. (WK)

92pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Mid lemon colour. This is really attractive with some energy. Perhaps a touch of fresh herbs, verbena, in here too. Correct acidity, a long chiselled stony finish alongside the white fruit. Good wine, drink from 5 years old. Tasted: October 2021."
