2018 Domaine des Carlines Pinot Noir Côtes du Jura

The wines of Domaine des Carlines were impressive when I first tasted them a couple of years ago. They have only become more so. The inaugural release of their Pinot Noir is something truly special. From the surrounding area of Chateau-Chalon, famous for its blue marl soils, this is a sexy silky Pinot that could sit side-by-side with some of the best Chambolle Musigny's out there. It has a saturated red cherry and plum profile with silky tannins. The sweet fruit lingers on the palate with a dusting of spices and flowers. Medium bodied on the palate, it has a lingering finish. Thankfully, it's from Jura so it's half the price you would pay for a comparable Pinot elsewhere. Exciting stuff!
