Champagne Dumenil is going against the trend for austere champagne and this is an open, rich, generous bottling. I love the crusty toast and lemon bar flavors and aromas in this wine, as well as the long finish. If you like brioche and tarte tatin, this is for you- it delights by being dry, but not at all harsh, and I could imagine this would be a fantastic Champagne for the hot tub, or for the aperitif!

I have put this bottle of Champagne into the hands of many customers and none of them have come back upset. This is always one of our better deals in the category, especially for this style and level of approachability. This more a cocktail or aperitif Champagne, it's fairly rich and round and super easy to drink your way through a bottle or two before you even really think about it. The nose is super crisp red apple with a very zesty lemon curd, and just a little touch of white flowers and chalk, along with just the inside of a baguette. The palate is rich and round in the best of ways, but the acidity is fresh enough to push the palate through and the finish is a sort of chalky red apple with just a little whisper of the lemon zest with more of that baguette. This is just such a great bottle when when you're just not quite sure what to get. It's covering all the bases, with enough toast to entice but enough freshness to be easy to sip by itself as well. I love this.
Notes
This blend of 60% Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% Chardonnay comes from exclusively estate-grown fruit in the 1er Cru of Sacy on La Petite Montagne de Reims. It's a fantastic aperitif wine and has surprising richness and concentration for the price.
