2017 Domaine Jean et Gilles Lafouge Auxey-Duresses Rouge

The 2017 Auxey-Duresses rouge is a very strong villages. The nose is pure and complex, delivering a fine blend of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, chalky soil tones, gamebird, woodsmoke and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impressively transparent in personality, with a good sappy core, lovely purity and bounce, modest tannins and a long, soil-driven finish. Good juice that will age very nicely, yet drink with serious generosity with only a couple of years in the cellar. Drink through 2045.
