Reviewed September 2017The 2016 Chardonnay is fabulous. In this vintage, the Chardonnay is especially broad, with plenty of tropically leaning fruit, peach and apricot flavors. Lees stirring adds textural richness, but the malolactic fermentation is blocked. The 2016 was not bottled at the time of my tastings, as the Varners wanted to give the wine more time on its lees. Quite simply, this is one of the best values in California Chardonnay readers will come across. (AG)

Always a terrific value, the 2016 Chardonnay from Foxglove is excellent, offering up lovely aromas of citrus, melon and apricot, followed by an elegantly satiny, succulent palate with excellent balance and a flavorful finish. It's hard to think of a better Chardonnay for the money than this offering from the dynamic Varner brothers. (WK)

The wine has one major flaw...it's just way too good for the price. Seriously...I think this wine would be taken much more seriously if it were twice as expensive and it definitely would hold it's own on the quality front. The Varner brothers have been crushing it with their Foxglove label for years now but this release is a notable step up in quality in my humble opinion. Lovely purity, perfectly ripe fruit, saline / coastal minerality and just the right textural weight without any new oak. This is the definition of a wine punching above its weight and I'm just thrilled to see some of the country's top critics recognizing that and shouting it loud and clear.

Best Chard in the store for the money, and has been so for almost a decade. Bright ripe fruit with subtle leesy richness.
