1998 was an outstanding vintage for Pomerol so we were very pleased to acquire a fair allocation of this perfectly aged Merlot that's hit the sweet spot. It's a classic that showcases flavorful earthy cassis fruit with a nice touch of dusty tannins and good length on the finish. Perfectly aged Bordeaux at an excellent price.

Notes

Known for their practice of holding back vintages to maturity, this small but high-quality Lalande-de-Pomerol producer crafts some best-in-class wines that are often tough to find but remarkably rewarding. De Viaud remains a family-run property of the Bielle family, and is a great reference-point for classic claret in the modern era.
