It has good depth, medium body and a creamy texture, but stays balanced and fresh on the palate, leading to a lingering finish. The value-priced 2016 Chardonnay Vintners Reserve comes all from coastal sites and was brought up in a mix of French and American oak, 11% being new. It offers a clean, balanced, undeniably delicious profile of white peach and orchard fruits, with subtle spice and honeyed notes with time in the glass. It’s textured, balanced, and easy drinking, and is perfect for a house white. Drink it over the coming year or two.

The 2016 Chardonnay Vintner's Reserve delivers intense baked apples, allspice and buttered toast notes with a touch of honeycomb. Medium-bodied, it has a good amount of uncomplicated, spiced-apple flavors offering great freshness and harmony. (LPB)

The 2016 Chardonnay Vintner's Reserve is very pretty. Orange blossom, tropical fruit, honey and buttery notes are nicely delineated in this attractive, mid-weight Chardonnay. Kendall-Jackson has toned down the malolactic fermentation and now works in a style that emphasizes freshness while also reducing the residual sugar that was once such a signature of this wine. I am not sure which stat is more impressive: an annual production of nearly 3 million bottles or the fact that 75% of the fruit for the Vintner's Reserve is estate. (AG)
