This is a structured wine with its tight acidity and concentrated white and citrus fruits. Produced from a small parcel on the Chevalier estate, it is complex with its mineral texture, its touch of pepper and its fine herbal acidity. It is a wine for long-term aging. *Cellar Selection* (RV)

Int'l Wine Review

Review Date: 10/2017
The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier is a superb showing in this vintage and may be one of the finest values as well. This blend of 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot and 5 % Petit Verdot displays a gorgeous dark color, followed by inviting aromas of blackberries and blueberries, which are layered with spices, florals and underlying nuances of wet stones all taking shape in the glass. Beautifully structured with a gorgeous rich, voluptuous texture and incredible depth. The finish is long and plush leaving a lasting impression. While this is already simply delightful, it also possesses the potential to age beautifully. (JD)

Dark fruits, stony ground, crushed rocks, serious Left Bank feel, with Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, well structured, plenty of life ahead, not the most geneous of Chevaliers but brilliant quality, restrained, confident, a consistently impressive wine that I have enjoyed on several occasions since En Primeur and that is clearly still at the beginning of its life.

A blend of 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot and 5 % Petit Verdot, harvest quite late, the 2014 Domaine de Chevalier is more refined and understated than the 2015 yet still offers more opulence, texture, and mid-palate depth than most in the vintage. Revealing a deep ruby, opaque color and a gorgeous array of blackberries, black cherries, smoked earth, forest floor, and tobacco leaf, this beauty offers full-bodied richness, a layered, silky texture, perfect balance and a great finish.

Textbook Dom de Chev! Pure, upfront fruit red fruit with hints of minerals and earth, elegant and as usual perfectly balanced. Lovely wine. Tasted 4-3-15 and again last week in San Francisco 2 Stars from Ralph.

Notes

96 points, Antonio Galloni for Vinous: "The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier is a total knockout. Precise, brilliant and finely sculpted, the 2014 possesses superb intensity. Freshly cut flowers, mint and sweet red berries, along with finessed but persistent tannins, give the wine its regal personality. The 2014 needs a number of years to shed some baby fat and develop the full breadth of its aromatics, but it is a fabulous wine by any measure. The 2014 is 65 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 30 % Merlot and 5 % Petit Verdot that spent approximately 35 days on the skins. Olivier Bernard noted that the Merlots were brought in between October 10 and 17, which is quite late by the domaine's standards. " (2/2017)
