This is a blend of 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir from the tiny 11 acre Thibault estate in Passy-Grigny and Verneuil. This has the texture, richness and power that fans of Blanc de Noirs love, but is also very fresh and balanced. It has tart red cherry flavors as well as subtle brioche toast and quite impressive concentration on the finish. This will make a great pairing for a sashimi night that has lots of salmon and tuna, or for the aperitif with any smoked fish.

The Thierry Thibault Blanc de Noirs (white wine from dark grapes) Brut Champagne highlights Champagne's two red grapes Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Historically, Pinot Meunier has been the silent blending grape in the shadow of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but it's gaining popularity with producers as a majority or single variety champagne. We currently offer around ten 100% Meunier champagnes and many more, including this one, that has a majority of Meunier in the blend. Thierry Thibault's Blanc de Noir breaks down to 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir. The Meunier gives the blend round and supple fruitiness and floral aromas. The Pinot Noir gives it power and structure. The combination offers loads of succulent red fruit and racy acidity. Aged for three years on the lees, it has a wonderful fresh sourdough component that integrates beautifully with the ripe fruit. Another home run from grower-producer Thierry Thibault!

Thierry Thibault Blanc De Noirs blossoms on the palate. Lovely aromas of red delicious apple, Sakura, and pink peppercorn spice. The bubbles are robust and the flavors are lengthy and textured. This is a full-flavored champagne with tons of backbone and one that would be lovely with a meal of substance.

The Thierry Thibault "Blanc de Noirs" Brut Champagne utilizes Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes to form an expression of purity and freshness. This wine is full of red apple and juicy red pear with a touch of strawberry and rose blossom. Freshness is complemented by hints of fresh baked bread and a broad, creamy texture that leads into a long, full finish.

Notes

This Champagne is produced exclusively from estate grown fruit and is composed of 80% Meunier and 20% Pinot Noir which is aged for three years on the lees. It has great natural richness, and fantastic red cherry zing, but finishes quite dry and bright. -Gary Westby, K&L Wine Buyer
