Hints of pastry and marzipan create a creamy base for the baked plum, crushed blackberry, ground ginger and honey flavors, while firm acidity and a citrusy note of lemon peel brightens and balances this well-knit Champagne. Smoky finish. Drink now through 2024.

(60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir): Vivid yellow. A fragrant, spice-accented bouquet evokes ripe pear, peach and chamomile, with hints of brioche, smoky minerals and anise adding complexity. Offers chewy pit and orchard fruit flavors braced by a citrussy element that adds grip and cut to the back half. This rich yet lively wine finishes with strong thrust and a lingering touch of toasty lees. (JR)

This has a touch of toast and a rich character. A creamed pear note mingles with lime-driven acidity and a delicious, warm tropical-fruit aftertaste.

This wine balances searing acidity with enough richness to create a simple, limestone-inflected Champagne. It’s flavors are somewhat muted for now and the wine may develop further with bottle age.

Do you have enough 2002 Champagne left in your cellar? I don't think anyone (except for the Ellner's in Epernay!) could ever answer yes to that question. The Seduction Brut is the most exciting older vintage Champagne that we have brought in direct in a long time, and I can't believe the value for money that it offers. The nutty, brioche filled nose gives way to a lively, chalky, bright and dry finish. This wine is so loaded and complex I just about filled up my notebook when tasting it, I found everything from cherry preserves to nougat in it. The finish has the rare peacock tail effect that usually only old great Burgundy brings to me, but with all of the refreshment of Champagne... Yum!

Magnificent! Lemon meringue, yellow fruits and cream. On the palate, the mousse is great, soft and easy. Nice acidity on the finish with more lemon notes and hints of white stone fruits and more cream. Extremely nice at this price!

Notes

This entirely estate-grown Champagne is one of the last 2002's left in the market, and an incredibly compelling value. It is composed of 60% Chardonnay from the Grand Crus of Avize and Chouilly, and 40% Tauxieres Pinot Noir. All of wine spends time in old oak and then over ten years on the lees in the bottle. If you enjoy brioche and chalky drive in your Champagne, this is a great example of the best that vintage has to offer. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
