Reviewed August 2015An elegant Champagne, with a pronounced aroma of smoky minerality playing second fiddle to the harmonious crushed blackberry, lemon meringue pie, fleur de sel and chopped hazelnut flavors. Fine and creamy in texture, with a lasting, vibrant finish. (AN)

This is a rich, maturing wine that is full of toasty, yeasty flavors that are finely integrated with the orange zest and apple flavors. It is just right to drink now, at a midway point between youth and maturity but it will age for several more years. (RV)

If you like Champagne that combines both chalky, high acid drive with a nearly silky, creamy texture, this is for you. I was also struck by the extraordinary, tiny bead. I imagine this will age for as long as you care to keep it- take note if you were married in 2004 like I was! It is composed of 70% Chouilly Grand Cru Chardonnay and a combination of Tauxieres and Epernay Pinot Noir for the remainder. I have another bottle in the fridge for tonight!

Even though this has been aged at the estate for years, it is still taught and full of life. Creamy apple and pear on the nose, with a big laser beam of apply acid on the palate. Mouth filling and thirst quenching, don't leave me alone with one of these if you were expecting to have a glass. Despite the obvious complexity and depth at this stage, I long to enjoy it again after another few years in the cellar. Buy a case and drink it over the next half decade or so and you will be RIGHTEOUSLY rewarded.
