Reviewed June 2014Tariquet’s flagship, this is classic Gascogne white, lemony-bright and shot through with crisp acidity. It’s simple and palate whetting, especially with a platter of plump, briny clams.

Dried golden raisin and baked apple flavors are accented by sage honey and spice. Hints of dried quince emerge on the finish. Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc and Gros Manseng.

Cotes de Gascognes is one of my favorite regions for everyday whites. They are inviting, easy to drink and CHEAP!!! The Tariquet has notes of crushed rock and kaffir lime with a hint of flint on the nose. This is vibrant, delicious and will make the perfect spring/summer white.

Armagnac is certainly the most heralded spirit from the Côtes de Gascogne, but what do savvy growers do with all that remaining fleshy, high-yielding fruit after creating it? Realizing the great potential, they artfully blend the primary varieties into refreshing, youthfully vibrant wines, bright with acidity and bracing aromas of lemon, apple, pear and sage. Perfect for light summery fare— skewered prawns or a fresh basket of calamari. And don’t even think of asking the price…..

This is a classic apertif; bright, light and crisp. Citrus dominated with just a wisp of something green and a touch of spice.
