Reviewed March 2025The 2023 Albariño Eidos de Padriñán, sourced from Sanxenxo in Rías Baixas, presents tropical aromas of orange blossom, pineapple and lychee. At 13% alcohol, the indulgent and textured palate is rich and enveloping, delivering a mature and defined profile. (JH)

A richly textured, fruit-forward style of Albariño, the 2023 Eidos de Padriñan opens with lush notes of orange oil, ripe nectarine, lemon blossom and subtle jasmine. On the palate, the classic Rias Baixas zippy acidity kicks in, however, freshening up the more floral aromatics. The palate has a slight grip to it – this is an Albariño with surprising weight and texture for its coastal origins. Albariño is a bit of a chameleon to me, sometimes lean and steely, and sometimes unctuous and perfumed. This wine is definitely in the style of the latter, and would be fantastic with meaty fish like sardines or mackerel, or even a Thai curry or anything flavored with lemongrass or curry leaf.
