Ruinart Brut Rosé "2nd Skin" Champagne 750ml bottle (ships as a 1.5L due to shape of bottle)

SKU #1025950 94 points Wine Spectator

Outer quote mark A gorgeous rosé in a rich, vinous style, this shows a satiny mousse and well-honed acidity, which buoy a detailed range of macerated raspberry fruit, dried apricot, grated ginger, graphite and chopped roasted almond flavors. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. (AN) Inner quote mark (11/2022)

Outer quote mark This particular bottle of Dom Riunart Brut Rosé had been in my cellar for four years. It remains remarkably fresh and youthful on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in a complex blend of blood orange, rhubarb, citrus zest, lovely minerality, rye bread, cloves and a topnote of sumac. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, fine mineral undertow, zesty acids, elegant mousse and a long, beautifully balanced finish. This has blossomed marvelously since it was first released and this really seems to be in its absolute apogee right now, albeit, still with plenty of life ahead of it. Inner quote mark (5/2022)

Outer quote mark Rather dark-colored with cherry, watermelon and stone undertones. Full-bodied and layered, with iron and strawberry at the end. Inner quote mark (8/2022)

K&L Notes

From the oldest shipper of bubbly Champagne, this is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay entirely from grand and premier cru vineyards. About 18% of the Pinot is vinified red and blended in for the color and rosé flavor. It has a dark color--almost like blood orange juice--and a soft, full bodied texture. It is rich and satisfying, despite the deceptively high proportion of Chardonnay. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

This bottle takes a walk on the richer side of Rose. Dense and decadent, a core of Bing Cherry, cassis and blood orange, Rose to the fullest. The 18% of Pinot added as red wine adds a firm spine that runs from tip to tail, frambois and baking spice lend a dark richness. Texturally incredibly please, supple and weighty with a finish that end with a hint of baking spice.

No Champagne is more famous within France than Ruinart, but it is only now that connoisseurs in the USA are starting to discover these great wines from Champagne. This rich, well balanced rose will delight fans of great pink Champagne with a great contrast between pure Pinot fruit and pure Champagne chalk. It is a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, with 18% of the Pinot vinified red and blended in for color and flavor. It has a little more color than most rose Champagne and a soft, full bodied texture. It is rich and satisfying, despite the deceptively high proportion of Chardonnay.

This is one of our richer styled Brut Rose champagnes. It has a lush nose of dark cherries, red fruit and rose petals. Full and rich on the palate with dark, red fruits and smokey notes. Rich and spicy, it will please nearly everyone.

This is no ordinary rose. Yes, it is beautifully colored, has a great mouse, and is just too easy to drink but there is something else going on here as well. In one word, complexity. This is like drinking beautiful sparkling Burgundy. Wonderful aromatics, multidimensional fruit, a round, generous mid-palate and great length, this is more than special occasion Champagne, this is indulgent, you deserve it, treat yourself (family and friends optional) Champagne!
