 A discreet nose is almost mute and it requires a certain amount of concentration to discern the cool, airy and ultra-elegant wisps of grapefruit, green apple, yeast and hints of brioche. The clean and sleek flavors are supported by an impressively refined effervescence that adds considerably to the sense of elegance on the agreeably dry but not austere finish. As much as I like the style this is not especially complex (though it’s by no means simple) though it would appear to have the ability to age and thus for those who have the patience, this may be more interesting after a few years of cellar time.  As is customary with this bottling from Rodolphe Péters, the wine is a blend of 50% of its base year of 2014 and 50% from last year’s blend, which had gone into the family solera of reserve wines that dates back to 1988. The vins clairs here do not entirely go through malo as 15% are non-malo wines, with the range raised in a variety of vessels, including barrels, stainless steel tanks and cement vats and the wine spend two years aging sur latte. The new release is very good indeed, offering up a youthful blend of apple, pear, hazelnut, chalky minerality, incipient pastry cream and spring flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, focused and full-bodied, with a good core, still pretty brisk acidity, frothy mousse and very good backend mineral drive on the long and nascently complex finish.  The NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve is an absolutely delicious, entry-level wine from Rodolphe Péters. Gracious and medium in body, the Cuvée de Réserve displays lovely purity in its flavors and a finessed, understated personality. Best of all, the Cuvée de Réserve is a terrific window into the style of one of Champagne's most inspired growers. This release is based on 2013, with the addition of reserve wines spanning 19 vintages going back to 1988. Dosage is 6.5 grams per liter. (AG)  (12/2016)

 This NV Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut Cuvée de Réserve is sourced from 67 different parcels of the Côte des Blancs (Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Cramant) and is composed of the vintages 2015 and 2014 (in equal parts) and 60% (!) of a réserve perpétuelle that dates back to 1998. The wine is clear and pretty intense on the nose, displaying ripe and intense fruit aromas. Rich and quite powerful on the palate, this is an elegant, finessed and well-structured cuvée with a good finish. Tasted in April 2018. (SR)  (8/2018)
