Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (100VN, 98IWR, 97JD, 96RP, 96W&S, 96WS, 95DC, 95JS). Vinous: "The 2016 Monte Bello is a masterful expression of this lauded site in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It’s powerful, broad and infinitely layered, but it also possesses an incredibly finessed tannin structure that speaks clearly and forcefully but yields dutifully. Saturated blueberry, gravel, eucalyptus, charcoal, cedar and India ink build gradually and steadily through the long and sizzling finish. Just beginning to soften and develop beyond the primary stage, it wouldn’t be a crime to open a bottle now, but this has many, many lives left to live and should be even better (if you can fathom) in a few more years. This is what Monte Bello is all about. (BN)" (09/2024)

Nuits-Saint-Georges, Corton, Gevrey-Chambertin & Morey-Saint-Denis Tasting Lot
Nuits-Saint-Georges, Corton, Gevrey-Chambertin & Morey-Saint-Denis Tasting Lot

Bid on this 4-bottle tasting lot; including 1 1983 Gilles Remoriquet Nuits-St.-Georges 1er Cru "Les St-Georges", 1 1988 Bertrand Ambroise Corton-Rognet Grand Cru, 1 1989 Alain Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, and 1 1996 Frédéric Magnien Morey-St-Denis "Les Herbuottes" Reserve. Of the 1996 Frédéric Magnien Morey-St-Denis "Les Herbuottes", Antonio Galloni writes writes: "Frederic Magnien bottles two lines; the Domaine Michel Magnien range is made predominantly from estate-owned grapes, although a few wines include purchased fruit as well. Magnien also issues a negociant label, Maison Frederic Magnien, exclusively from purchased grapes. If that sounds confusing, welcome to Burgundy! In layman’s terms the Domaine bottlings carry a black label, the Maison wines carry a white label...In general the Maison wines tend to emphasize a more red expression of fruit, while the Domaine wines are more towards the blue/black end of the spectrum."

Vice Versa "Mysterons" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2021 Vice Versa "Mysterons" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this bottle of 2021 Vice Versa "Mysterons" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98JD, 96RP, 95DC). Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming just about all from the Ecotone Vineyard (there's a splash of Georges III in here), the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mysterons is deep purple-hued, with an insanely good bouquet of red and black fruits, iron, bloody meat, and graphite, and it turns slightly more floral and violet-tinged with air. Classic, quintessential 2021 Napa Valley magic, it's full-bodied and has tons of obvious minerality, a stacked mid-palate, and enough tannins to warrant 5-7 years of bottle age. It will most likely merit a perfect rating at maturity. (JD) 98+" (02/2024)

Of the 2002 Chateau St. Jean "Cinq Cépages" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon, Wine Advocate writes: "An excellent example of this cuvee, the still youthful 2002 Cinq Cepages is composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of black raspberries, sweet cherries, black currants and hints of toasty oak, forest floor and underbrush. 2021 Vice Versa "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this bottle of 2021 Vice Versa "Beckstoffer To Kalon" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97JD, 97RP). Wine Advocate: "Once again, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is one of my favorites among the current lineup from Vice Versa. Gentle sage and pipe tobacco nuances accent ripe red and black cherries, plus there are hints of fine suede and complex notes of dried spices. It's full-bodied and concentrated, richly tannic but ripe, silky and fine. There's a certain elegance and generosity here, despite the large-scale tannins. Great stuff. (JC) 97+" (01/2024)

Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Four Hearts Vineyard is another flat-out awesome 2021 that readers will love. Based on 46% Petite Sirah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Zinfandel, it sports a saturated purple hue to go with exotic notes of cassis, green tobacco, sandalwood, baking spices, and incense. It’s clearly the finest vintage of this cuvée to date, and this full-bodied, incredibly pure, layered, flawlessly balanced red can be drunk today with incredible pleasure or cellared for upwards of 10-15 years, depending on your preferences. Chapoutier "Chante-Alouette" Hermitage Blanc. Of the 1989 Chapoutier "La Sizeranne", Wine Advocate writes: "The 1989 La Sizeranne was aged in 40% new oak casks and was produced from yields that did not exceed 30 hectoliters per hectare. It is an organically made, unfined, unfiltered wine that is drinking surprisingly well. The dark ruby/purple color exhibits no signs of age. The bouquet leaps from the glass, offering up aromas of cassis, minerals, smoky oak, and herbs. In the mouth, this rich, powerful, concentrated, superripe wine offers succulence and delineation. The tannins are noticeable, but ripe and unobtrusive. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Last tasted 6/96." (Rhone Book, 1997)

Connoisseurs Guide: " *One Star* Another very ripe Pinot from Siduri, this one certainly favors its concentrated side, but also shows enough pure varietal fruit to live up to the name. It is deep, cherryish and tinged with notes of cocoa and caramel in the nose, and its fleshy mouthfeel joins with suggestions of velvet and convincing fruit to overcome any tendency to latter palate heat." Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is just as magnificent as it has always been. A wine of stature and pedigree, the 2013 possesses stunning vertical intensity right out of the gate. Dark fruit, lavender, graphite, coffee and dried herbs are some of the notes that infuse this vivid Cabernet with striking complexity. But it is the sum of the parts that impresses most. This beauty shows lots of creme de cassis, blueberry liqueur, spring flower and forest floor notes in an opulent, full-bodied, powerful, dense, rich style buttressed by significant ripe tannins and decent acidity. Again, the striking purity and singular character of this Bryant Cabernet Sauvignon oozes potential as well as pedigree. Bid on this magnum of 2019 Les Cousins (Vice Versa & L'Aventure) California Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (98JD, 95RP). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Les Cousins emerges from a collaboration between Patrice Breton (Vice Versa) and Stephan Asseo (L’Aventure) and is a blend of two barrels each from To Kalon and the L’Aventure Estate Vineyard in Paso Robles. It’s 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in new French oak, and there are a tiny 200 cases produced. It’s a gorgeous wine offering pure cassis and blackberry fruit as well as notes of crushed stone, graphite, and savory herbs. Round and supple on the palate, it has some To Kalon opulence yet stays more focused (no doubt from the Paso Robles limestone soils) with beautiful tannins, a remarkable sense of freshness and purity, and a great finish. Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre"
2008 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre"

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" (96VN, 94BH, (93-94RP), 93JG). Vinous: "Bright yellow with a green tinge. Classic Montée de Tonnerre aromas of lemon ice, crushed rock, iodiney minerality and white flowers. floral, lemon ice, straight and classic. Tactile, juicy and utterly gripping--in fact still almost painful today. Powerful salty minerality and penetrating acidity currently dominate the wine's lemon oil, grapefruit and floral flavors, with the wine showing a weightless impression. The dusty mineral-driven finish stains the palate and builds inexorably... Drink the 2010 for lunch now but hold this magical wine for another couple years, as its spring is still tightly coiled. This was my favorite wine of the tasting. The 2014 and 2010 vintages may be richer and deeper, as Isabelle Raveneau suggested to me three years ago, but this '08 is utterly classic. (ST)" (08/2019)

Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah
2021 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2021 Cayuse "Armada Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Syrah (98IWR, 97JD, 96RP, 95JS, 95VN, 95WE, 95WS). Int'l Wine Review: "The impressive 2021 Armada Vineyard Syrah from Cayuse is another 100% Syrah from The Rocks that saw 15-20% new French oak for a total of 21 months of aging. You immediately have the sense of place in this wine and in a blind, I could pick it out every time. Gorgeous, intriguing notes of grilled meats, dried purple roses, and white peppercorns meld with the blue and black fruit with a smidgeon of white grapefruit zest that pops out of the glass on the nose. Tannins are firm and pleasant and pair perfectly with the lemony acidity and lengthy earthy finish that goes on for minutes. 636 cases were produced."

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Peter Michael "L'Apres Midi" Knights Valley Sauvignon Blanc (93VN, 92RP, 92ST, 91WS). Vinous: "One of my long-time favorites in this range, the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc L'Apres-Midi is gorgeous in this vintage. Citrus lychee, jasmine, melon, fig, smoke, and pear notes all flesh out in the glass. The 2011 is impeccably layered and balanced from start to finish. Hints of lemon oil and white flowers add brightness on the crisp, bracing finish. The blocked malo style works particularly well here. Kongsgaard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2010 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 94VN, 92ST, 92WS). Vinous: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark, rich and explosive. Mocha, plums, dark cherries, tobacco, new leather and licorice all jump from the glass. The 2010 is intense and powerful, but it is also a bit closed in on itself, with less overall exuberance and a greater impression of structure than it has shown in the past, a kind of in between stage wines can enter when they are best left alone for a few years. Domaine Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes
2009 Domaine Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes (94BH, 94RP). Wine Advocate: "Good deep red. Very ripe aromas of cherries macerated in alcohol, mocha and wild herbs. Generous, pliant and highly concentrated, with lovely floral, mineral and minty high notes lifting the ripe cherry fruit. Finishes tactile, chewy and very long, with noble, sweet tannins and hints of game and menthol. These vines date back to 1885, but Philippe Roty is quick to point out that there has been a lot of repiquage (replanting of individual vines as they die) along the way. I would not be surprised if this wine merited a higher score 10 or 15 years down the road. (ST) 94+" (03/2010)
