The Alto Adige produces arguably the finest Pinot Bianco in the world, and this scintillating example is a perfect introduction to the local style. Fermentation and lees ageing in stainless steel only produces a white displaying jasmine inflections to as yet closed pear and yellow peach aromas and a light waxiness. Balanced and with lovely acidity, it's quite fleshy but not fully open yet, showing some nectarine and flowers for now. Really good length, with that classic stony, salty finish. (MG)
The 2024 Terlaner Cuvée is understated in the glass, wafting up with notes of sliced pear, white flowers and raw almonds. It balances zesty acidity with mineral-infused pit fruits and spice over a wave of silken textures. This echoes with inner florals as a subtle citrus twang adds dimension and a hint of green melon fades. (EG)
Founded in 1907, J. Hofstätter is based in Tramin, also known as Termeno, in northern Italy’s Alto Adige. Its 2023 Pinot Bianco brings together this Alpine winegrowing setting and a white grape of the Pinot family: Pinot Bianco is the Italian name for Pinot Blanc.

This is rare stuff! The Lamoureux Pinot Blanc is one of the very few champagnes to be bottled exclusively with this grape variety, and it has been five years since we got an allocation- Vivien Lamoureux rarely has enough of this to load the press! I love the candied citrus exoticism that show on top of the pain au levin like aromatics, and the richer texture that this grape variety brings. This is broad, silky Champagne, but still has the bead, refreshment and length of top-quality Champagne. I love the hint of pumpkin on the finish and think this would be excellent with any white fish. Don't fall in love, it might be years until we get more!

Kuentz-Bas traces its history to 1795 and is based in Husseren-les-Châteaux, an Alsace village named for the three medieval castle ruins overlooking the area. The 2018 “Trois Châteaux” is an old-vine Pinot Blanc that connects the estate’s regional identity with one of Alsace’s traditional white varieties.
The never-less-than-stylish Alsace house of Trimbach comes up trumps again with a soft, silky, apple-mousse-scented and properly dry white in which the fleshier Auxerrois leads the way while the 30% Pinot Blanc brings the gently incisive lemony acidity.(DW)
An elegant dry white with delicate candied citrus, pomelo and fresh nut aromas on the silky, medium-bodied palate that is simultaneously full of character and very easy to enjoy. Its drinkability has a lot to do with the way the animating freshness and hint of tannin interlock so neatly in the beautifully balanced finish. A cuvee of almost two-thirds pinot blanc and slightly more than one-third auxerrois. Drink or hold. (SP)
Weingut Stefan Müller is a small, third-generation estate based in Konz-Krettnach in the Saar, one of Germany’s most distinctive Riesling-growing areas. Stefan Müller took over the family winery in 2013, and today he farms roughly 10 hectares, with Riesling accounting for the vast majority of the vineyards. His wines are rooted in the steep, slate-soiled vineyards of the Konzer Tälchen, with an emphasis on old vines, meticulous hand harvesting and natural cellar work. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, and wines are raised in traditional Fuder barrels or stainless steel, often with extended lees aging. The result is beautifully pure, precise wine that balances vibrant acidity and mineral character with remarkable texture and drinkability.

The 2024 Pinot Blanc is a blend of Pinot Blanc from 60-year-old vines and Auxerrois planted in 1946 and 1943, grown on granite. Tart, fresh pear is framed by lemon zest on the nose. These taut, citric notions carry onto the palate, where they are colored by riper, rounder pear. This strikes a perfectly concentrated but light balance and is bone dry. (Bone-dry) (AK)
Elena Walch trained as an architect before turning to wine in Alto Adige, the Alpine region of northern Italy. Her 2025 Pinot Bianco carries the Italian name for Pinot Blanc, a grape also known locally as Weissburgunder—a reflection of Alto Adige’s Italian- and German-speaking traditions.
Some wines make you understand why humans have been obsessed with fermented grape juice for thousands of years. This is one of those wines. It's like discovering a secret room in a house you thought you knew completely. Golden apple and white peach float on a cloud of Alpine herbs, while crushed stones and salted lemon keep pulling you back to the glass. Each taste unfolds with the precision of a master watchmaker but feels as natural as breathing. The texture makes you question everything you thought you knew about white wine. If you're lucky enough to find a bottle, cancel your plans for the evening. This is the kind of wine that deserves your full attention and rewards it generously. (JP)
Pinot Blanc is a white-berried mutation of Pinot Noir, giving this white wine a direct connection to one of Burgundy’s best-known grapes. Skylark’s 2025 bottling comes from Orsi Vineyard in Mendocino County, part of California’s North Coast winegrowing region.
An ambitious wine that shines with an intense mix of blood-orange and white-peach aromas with a flowery touch. Medium-bodied. On the palate, it shows vibrancy and weight with a long, savory and toasted finish. Drink or hold. (AF)
