Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2016 Clos Mogador Priorat (98RP, 95IWR, 94VN). Wine Advocate: "Keeping the classical profile, the 2016 Clos Mogador has been fine tuned, reducing the French grapes, and it matured approximately 18 months in oak foudre and barriques. There is a lively sensation on the palate, vivacious and with very fine tannins. It has a meaty touch and feels really young , despite the long élevage. There is a strong mineral sensation on the palate, something that is a texture and mouthfeel rather than a flavor. This is an unusual, fresh vintage. (LG)" (08/2019)

Fresh and complex aromas of black fruits, olives, iris, violet and oak spice make for an inviting nose. The palate boasts a generous and balanced delivery of ripe blueberry, black cherry, mushroom and wild thyme. The finish is delightful with pure fruit that stays long through its clean finish. A beautiful bottling that can be enjoyed in its youth. (ACC)

So much purity to the fresh, concentrated beam of cherries, raspberries and red plum preserves, all lifted by flowers and mouthwatering acidity. A kiss of spices and Mediterranean scrub sweeps in, while elegantly long, approachable tannins promise a rewarding life ahead. Drink or hold.

They had to source new vineyards for the 2024 La Bruja, one from El Tiemblo, as the main vineyard delivered only 9,000 kilos of grapes because of the frost (it can produce up to 30,000 kilos in a normal year). So, this is a regional Gredos red from the Cebreros part. It has more fruit and is rounder and juicier than the 2023, but it still delivers very pretty aromas of violets and wild herbs. It has a fine-boned mouthfeel with chalky tannins. It comes in at 14% alcohol, with good freshness and balance. (LG)
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2022 Sine Qua Non “Distenta IV” California Grenache (99TWI, 97JD, 97VN, 94RP), a cult Grenache from Manfred and Elaine Krankl drawn from three estate vineyards: Eleven Confessions, The Third Twin and Cumulus. It is 78% Grenache blended with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah and dashes of Muscat and Petit Manseng, fermented with 42.9% whole clusters and aged 23 months mostly in demi-muids. The Wine Independent writes: “Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose bursts with a bold perfume of blackberry preserves, juicy blueberries, and black cherries, followed by suggestions of licorice, black pepper, garigue, and dried lavender. The full-bodied palate delivers beautifully ripe yet firm, fine-grained tannins and great tension to support the boisterous fruit layers, finishing very long and fragrant. (LPB)” (09/2024)

Vinous: "Now in bottle, the 2021 Grenache Distenta III is every bit as magnificent as it was last year. Savory and wildly dynamic in the glass, the 2021 impresses with its energy and overall vibrancy. Dark-toned fruit, lavender, spice and cooling mineral notes all build in this statuesque, dazzling Grenache. The blend is 79% Grenache, 8.4% Syrah, 7.4% Mourvèdre, 3.2% Petite Sirah and 2% Muscat and Petit Manseng. The 35% whole clusters (mostly on the Grenache) add dimension. (AG)" (07/2024)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2020 Sine Qua Non "Distenta II" California Grenache (99JD, 99TWI, 97RP, 96VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "Tasted out of bottle, the 2020 Grenache Distenta II is total blockbuster stuff that's darker and richer than the 2021. Red and black fruits, white pepper, classy leather, and spicy baking chocolate-like nuances all define the aromatics, and it’s deep, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, with gorgeous tannins and a great finish. The blend is 78% Grenache, 9% Mourvèdre, 8% Syrah, and the rest Petite Sirah (with a splash of Viognier), and it's going to knock your socks off any time over the coming 15+ years." (08/2023)

Bid on this bottle of 2019 Booker "The Ripper" Paso Robles Grenache (97RP, 95JD, 95VN, 95WE, 94JS). Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Ripper Grenache, matured for 16 months and made with more stem inclusion than the longer aged version of this cuvée, explodes with a perfume of candied peaches and crushed red berries with nuances of wildflowers, aniseed and charcuterie and a fine underpinning of citrus and amaro-like nuances. The palate's kaleidoscopic flavors are lit by juicy acidity and spicy accents, framed by resolved, grainy tannins, and this bright young wine finishes with tremendous length and detail. What a glorious expression this vintage! (EB)" (03/2022)

Bid on this bottle of 2014 Sine Qua Non "Testa dei Cherubini" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache (99JD, 98RP, 98VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "As with the extended aged Syrah release, the 2014 Grenache Testa Dei Cherubini (80% Grenache, 15.5% Syrah, and the rest Petite Sirah and Viognier) comes all from the estate Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and spent just under 38 months in 25% new French oak, with the balance in neutral barrels (varying sizes). Layers of black raspberry, cassis, white chocolate, white flowers, and Asian spices flow to a full-bodied, supple, powerful Grenache that has silky, silky tannins, a seamless texture, no hard edges, and a finish that won’t quit. It’s already approachable, yet in my experience, this extended élevage results in a very stable wine, and I suspect this beauty will have another two decades of longevity." (10/2018)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Rattrapante - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache (100RP, 97VN). Wine Advocate: "A perfect wine any way you look at it, the 2012 Grenache Rattrapante comes all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and spent 33 months in 27% new French oak. My notes start - and end - with “Wow.” Giving up tons of black raspberries, peppery herbs, licorice, dried flowers and cured meats, it’s a massively concentrated, rich and layered Grenache that somehow manages to stay graceful, lively and fresh on the palate. There are roughly 800 cases of this elixir and any Grenache lover should do their best to latch onto a bottle (or two). It’s also worth noting that this cuvee saw 26% whole clusters, which is a small change from past vintages. (JD)" (08/2016)

It’s a blend of 60% Garnacho, 30% Tempranillo and 10% Viura from vines averaging 91 years old, fermented with indigenous yeasts in century-old oak vats and aged four years in old American oak. A pale shade of pink in the glass, this blend of 51% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, and 24% Mourvèdre pairs generous cotton candy and pink rose aromas with earthy wet-rock aromas on the nose. Founded in 2007 by New Zealand-born winemaker Angela Osborne, A Tribute to Grace is devoted to Grenache and takes its name from Osborne’s grandmother. 92+ points "The 2022 Vermell was produced with 50% Mandó, 30% Arcos and 20% Garnacha Tintorera, a very different blend from the 2020 I had tasted last time, with a lot less Garnacha Tintorera, turning more into a small brother of the Safrà and Parotet. It's a light red with 13.5% alcohol, a medium body and good freshness with brightness and pretty notes, perfumed and fresh. It's elegant, with finesse, and has much more elegant tannins. It's more serious, less rustic. 75,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2023. (LG)"

The 2021 Tir na N'og Old Vine Grenache is dark, spicy and brooding on the nose, with layers of Christmas spice, black and red berries and the earthy base of licorice and iodine. In the mouth, the wine silky, dark and statuesque. The tannins are very finely countersunk into the fruit; they are chalky and gently grippy and shape the fruit in the mouth. With very good length of flavor through the finish, this is built to last some time. Very smart. (EL)
Aromas of black olives and rich dark cherries with brambly and meaty undertones. Fruity and juicy, with a solid fruit core on the mid-palate, which is fleshy, medium-bodied and nicely chewy. A dark, solid, fruity wine. (ZS)
The 2021 Telescópico Garnacha · Garnacha Peluda · Mazuela was produced with grapes from old vines in conversion to organic farming in the villages of Alpartir and Morata on limestone and slate soils. It fermented separately, with 80% full clusters (on average, the Cariñena is destemmed and has a softer vinification) in open-top vats with indigenous yeasts and foot treading and a 40-day maceration, then matured in 500-liter barrels and 2,500- and 3,000-liter foudres for four months. It has moderate ripeness and alcohol (13.5%) coupled with very good freshness and acidity. 2021 had a longer cycle, and the grapes developed more aromas and nuances. It is elegant and floral, with more flavors, and the wine is tastier and more umami, with abundant, finer tannins. This is a more serious wine, with citrus freshness. Superb. (LG)

The young and fruit-driven red 2023 Soplo was produced with 80% Garnacha and the rest Monastrell and Forcallà, fermented with 30% full clusters and matured in 17,000-liter vats and 500-liter barrels for six months. It has an easy profile—medium-bodied, clean and balanced, with fine tannins—and is dominated by red fruit and some spice. Very pleasant. It has 13.5% alcohol, a pH of 3,6 and 5.1 grams of acidity. 45,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2024. (LG)
The 2023 Navaherreros Garnacha from Viñedos Bernabeleva is fairly ripe this year, coming in at 14.5 percent octane, but is still impeccably balanced. These vines are now more than ninety years of age. It delivers a very fine and complex aromatic constellation of raspberries, discreet spiced meat tones, a lovely base of soil, distant bonfire, lavender, roses and gentle brown spices in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully transparent down to its soil, with a fine core of red fruit, tangy acids, buried tannins and excellent focus and balance on the long, complex and vibrant finish. This is truly stunning young Garnacha!
When I first put my nose in the glass of the 2023 Clos Mogador, I felt the freshness of spring flowers and lots of herbs, but the wine was a little closed and shy. I'm always excited when facing a new vintage of Clos Mogador, a wine that has been very important for Priorat and for my understanding of the Mediterranean. This year, the wine feels very balanced and has more elegance, and it's fine-boned and with very fine tannins. It's focused, clean and very neat; it doesn't feel chameleonic like some years when its young. This is more energetic, and there's no concern about the body; it's powerful and has abundant tannins, a wine for the long run. This is a step up in precision, freshness and elegance. It's subtle and elegant despite the notable ripeness. It fermented with 100% uncrushed grapes. They are removing the Cabernet and Syrah (in 2025, the wine is approximately 50% Cariñena and 50% Garnacha), and they are using less and less barriques. This is a very serious Mogador. (LG)
Sourced from several villages across Navarra, the 2025 Garnacha Tinta shows floral and slightly sanguine notes with hints of pomegranate, strawberry and subtle oak. The palate is generous in flavor with delicate juiciness, fresh energy and a soft chalky texture. Agile and solar in character, the 2025 delivers purity of fruit at a very attractive price. (JH)
Wild strawberries, raspberries, spring flowers, and peppery, floral nuances all emerge from the 2023 Cairanne, a medium-bodied, elegant, seamless wine that will shine right out of the gate. This beauty is based on 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre, and while it offers ample pleasure in its youth, it should easily evolve for 10-12 years.

Blended with 5% Syrah and raised in 40% new oak for 14 months, the 2023 Grenache El Jabali Vineyard is one sexy Grenache that ticks all my boxes. Deep ruby-hued and almost opaque, it offers black raspberries, peppery garrigue, spring flowers, and crushed stone. Reminiscent of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape Mon Aïeul from Pierre Usseglio, it's medium to full-bodied, balanced, layered, and seamless, with ripe tannins. Drink 2025-2037.
The village red 2022 Bellmunt Negre feels surprisingly fresh and agile, with notes of translucent red berries and some spiciness. It has a medium- to full bodied palate and abundant, fine-grained tannins. It's a blend of 70% Garnacha and 30% Cariñena matured for 10 months with equal parts in 3,300-liter concrete vats and 3,000-liter oak vats. (LG)
The 2023 Pissarres from Priorat is composed of 60% Garnatxa Negra and 40% Cariñena. From a warm, dry year, it shows ripeness with field herbs, chutney, cypress and black fruit. Energetic and juicy, it carries an alcoholic lift balanced by freshness. A herbal note lingers on the finish, marking the vintage. (JH)
The 2023 Garnacha de Fuego is from Sierra de Pardos and Sierra de Peña Blanca, Aragón. It is ripe, with sour cherry, a faint sanguine note, floral tones, vermouth hints and gentle field herbs over soft jam. Concentrated, with lightly robust tannins, this has balanced acidity and red-fruited persistence. (JH)
NASAA certified organic and biodynamic grenache from blocks 18 and 22 on the Alkina Greenock estate, 100% whole bunches, basket pressed into concrete and a small portion into stainless steel for 6 months. Brothers Xabi, Iñaki and Mikel Sanz created Viña Zorzal in 2007, taking advantage of their long history and tradition as a winemaking family in Correla, Navarra. Their family winery, Bodegas Correlana, had been run by their grandfather and father, and it had become a reference point for Navarra wines. The rocky and stony landscape in Fitero, a subzone of the D.O. Navarra, differs from the much flatter areas of Navarra where Garnacha and Tempranillo are cropped in high volumes. Viña Zorzal owns 40 hectares, 25 of which planted with the traditional Garnacha of the land. The wild bush vines are old, many centenarian, and are farmed organically.
The 2023 Microcósmico Garnacha was produced with grapes from older vines grown on slopes with slate soils at 650 to 700 meters in altitude in the village of Jarque in the IGP Valdejalón. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and 20% to 25% whole clusters that were foot trodden, and it matured in underground concrete vats for seven months. It has a little more complexity and depth than the Botijo Rojo and is varietal and juicy, with fine tannins and a dry finish. It has only 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.21 and 5.9 grams of acidity. (LG)

The Piero Mancini Cannonau di Sardegna is a vibrant and expressive representation of Cannonau, showcasing the unique character of Sardinia’s flagship grape. The nose is aromatic and inviting, offering a bouquet of ripe red berries, including cherry and raspberry, along with hints of black pepper, dried herbs, and a touch of Mediterranean spices. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with smooth tannins and balanced acidity. Flavors of juicy dark fruit, such as blackberry and plum, are complemented by notes of roasted coffee, leather, and a subtle earthy undertone. The finish is long and flavorful, with lingering notes of fruit and a hint of minerality. This Cannonau offers a beautiful balance of fruit and spice, making it an excellent choice for a range of culinary pairings.

Called The Outsider because it's foot-trodden in cement tanks before ageing in demijohns, this is a low-intervention cuvée of Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo and 5% Pasera from three sites in Alfaro and Autol. Focused, floral and chalky, it’s savoury, black fruited and well balanced with tangy acidity and some underlying grip.
The Paardeberg Grenache was the first that Marelise Niemann made under the Momento label. Sourced from a dry-farmed vineyard on decomposed granite, it's a pithy, stony, chiselled red with some spicy top notes from 30% whole clusters, mouth-watering acidity and crunchy pomegranate and redcurrant flavours.
From Fenaughty Vineyard. A highly perfumed and engaing Grenache from high in the Sierra Foothills. Winery Notes: "Grenache from Fenaughty Vineyard in the Apple Hill district of El Dorado County. Farmed by Chuck Mansfield, the vineyard sits on a north-facing slope at approximately 2,800 feet on volcanic clay-loam soils. The wine was fermented with 50% hand-destemmed fruit and 50% whole clusters, then aged for 6 months in stainless steel followed by 3 months in neutral French oak before bottling, unfined and unfiltered."
Sta. Rita Hills adopted its abbreviated name in 2006, five years after the appellation was established as Santa Rita Hills. Habit’s 2023 Grenache carries the Spear Vineyard designation, placing this California red within one of Santa Barbara County’s recognized winegrowing areas.
Such were the heat and early harvest in 2020, that the Garnacha that makes up the base of this wine with 20% Syrah was picked on February 2nd. Structured and well balanced, with red cherry, blackberry and rosemary flavours and fine-grained, detailed tannins.
