The debut label of our Discovery Series continues to impress. At the core of this program is a mission to showcase wines of impeccable quality, unmistakable regional typicité, and exceptional value. As I often say, we’re not just placing a label on someone’s latest release—we’re curating standout selections from our deep, trusted network of sources. Each wine must rise above its peers, often outperforming bottles at multiples of the price. Only those that meet this high bar make it into the lineup. Such is the case with our 2019 Pauillac, crafted by a classified growth—though the name must remain a secret, thanks to a special arrangement secured for the Discovery Series. This wine captures the triumph, accessibility, and layered depth of the 2019 vintage. It’s a vivid expression of Pauillac—unforgettable in its elegance and authenticity. I especially adore its character and how clearly it reflects the region’s typicité. On the nose, a vibrant mélange of red and black fruits takes center stage—cassis, blackberry, and black plum—woven with a hint of graphite and pencil lead. The palate delivers a beautifully refined texture, with bright, energetic red fruit at the core and a structured finish layered with black fruit. A subtle richness plays off the wine’s firm structure, while fresh acidity brings lift and balance. The signature Pauillac tannins are present, yet softened by the generosity of the 2019 vintage, offering a wine that is both serious and remarkably approachable. Now seven years past the vintage, some of the edges are beginning to soften, and it appears poised for a long, broad drinking window. For a quintessential Pauillac—and a top-notch Bordeaux value—this is one to stock up on and revisit time and time again.

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Fonbadet, Pauillac (94WE, 93VN, 92CK, 92JD, 92JS, 91DC, 91RP). Wine Enthusiast: "This 50-acre, family-owned property is surrounded by some of the most famous names in Pauillac. The wine shares some of the same fine Cabernet Sauvignon flavors, ripe with intense black-currant fruitiness that partners with dusty tannins and acidity. It's a wine for aging. *Editors' Choice* (RV)" (05/2019)

Wine Spectator: "This has entered its secondary phase, with alluring notes of black tea, steeped plum, mulled spice and warm pain d'épices emerging from the core of supple plum, cassis and black cherry fruit. The long, fine-grained finish lets a perfumy singed cedar accent linger. A beauty. (JM)" (11/2014)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1975 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (93RP). Wine Advocate: "Three late-released bottles of the 1975 Lafite Rothschild were drinking beautifully, soaring from the glass with scents of sweet red berries, camphor, cigar box and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a generous core of fruit, melting tannins and succulent acids, this is a soft, seamless wine despite the inherently firm style of the vintage, and it's at its peak today. Bid on this bottle of 1977 Latour, Pauillac. Château Latour's wines are among the most sought-after in the world, and they are also among the most expensive. That said, this is an incredible bargain. The 1977 vintage was average, if small, the result of an early budbreak and subsequent frost which reduced the fruit set. Winery notes: "A moderately concentrated Latour with a bouquet of cedar, very pleasant and soft in the mouth, a surprise for the year. No sign of harshness or astringency. A curiosity."

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (92VN). Vinous: "The 1997 Lynch-Bages shows some degradation on the bricked rim. The bouquet is open-knit, fully mature with ferrous, undergrowth, leafy/autumnal scents. It's missing some fruit intensity, as you expect from a more challenging season. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp black fruit laced with orange rind, black pepper, cedar and tobacco. This shows the most cohesion towards the finish and displays a long, sustained aftertaste. This is a real turn-up for the books. (NM)" (07/2023)

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1966 Batailley, Pauillac and 1-bottle of 1966 Beausejour, St-Émilion. Of the 1966 Batailley, Pauillac, Wine Advocate writes: "Tasted at the Académie du Vin, the 1966 Batailley has a similar bouquet to the bottle encountered back in 2011, with scorched leather and cigar box aromas infusing the black fruit. This example had a touch of tarriness. The palate is medium-bodied and foursquare, stocky and broad-shouldered without the finesse that you find on the best examples of the 1961. Nevertheless, there is commendable depth given its age—irony in character with veins of dried orange peel lacing the finish that admittedly feels abrupt. (NM)" (06/2017)

Pure class, the 2019 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse De Lalande is another brilliant wine from director Nicolas Glumineau that checks in at the top of the vintage. A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc that was harvested from mid-September through October 8th. Brought up in roughly 60% new French oak, it hit 14.1% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.7. More elegant and poised from bottle than barrel, it offers a brilliant perfume of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, tobacco leaf, damp earth, and graphite. Deep, full-bodied, and pure perfection on the palate, it has this incredible marriage of Latour-like stature and regalness buffered by wonderful, sexy, seamless fruit, which no doubt comes from the higher Merlot content and makes Comtesse de Lalande so singular and unique. It builds slowly with time in the glass and has remarkable purity of fruit, ultra-fine tannins, perfect balance, and a finish that just begs you to pour another glass. It has a seductive, seamless profile that offers pleasure even today (although it needs lots of air to show at its best) yet needs 7-8 years of bottle age to hit the early stages of its prime drink window and will evolve for another 40-50 years if stored properly.

The aromas to this are really amazing, with a potpourri of spices and dried flowers, as well as redcurrants, sweet plums and even some peaches. Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate in an encompassing yet always elegant and pure way. It’s succulent and unadulterated. Like crushed, perfectly ripened grapes. The length is rather endless. The tannins build. Fabulous young red. 35% in amphora and the rest in 50% new oak and 15% one-year oak. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes. The 2016 Château Mouton Rothschild is nothing short of magical. It instantly begins to impress as it opens to seductive aromatics of blackberries and black currants woven together with espresso, charcoal, spring flowers, leather as well as hints of spice and gravel all taking shape in the glass. This continues to impress on the palate with its remarkable overall balance, concentration and silky, polished texture, which is beautifully underlined with a lovely trace of acidity. It shows wonderful precision and finesse through the finish, which leaves behind a long lasting impression. Overall, this is everything you want in a first growth Pauillac and it already showing exceptionally well. This is a simply breathtaking wine that should go down as one of the greatest vintages of Mouton ever made. (JD)

The 2022 Château Lynch-Bages is based on 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and 3% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Bid on this 3 liter of 2003 Latour, Pauillac (3L) (100JS, 100RP, 98WS, 97ST, 97VN). Wine Advocate: "2003 was one of the hottest, earliest Bordeaux vintages ever. Some vines suffered from lack of moisture, but old vines and clay subsoil at Enclos saw this vineyard through. The Merlot harvest occurred between September 8 and 13, and the Cabernet Sauvignon was picked between September 22 and 30. The 2003 Latour is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Six percent of the press wine was added to the final blend. It has a medium to deep garnet-purple color, then wow—it explodes from the glass with bombastic black and blue fruits, followed up by meat, wood smoke, sandalwood and Indian spice accents with underlying floral wafts. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1982 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (95JS, 95VN, 94RP, 94WS, 93DC). Vinous: "I tasted the 1982 Lynch-Bages twice within a month, both at a private dinner in London and at the château, from bottle and double-magnum on separate occasions. Both vindicate an exceptionally fine 1982, perhaps a bit overlooked in a vintage full of stars. Curiously, the bottle in Bordeaux does not fully deliver the mesmerizing freshness and energy compared to the bottle in London: pencil-lead-tinged black fruit intermixed with clove and freshly-rolled tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, perhaps just a little austere compared to its peers. Yet, indeed, the bottle in London exudes class and composure with a detailed, mineral-driven vintage belying that year's unseasonably warm period. Superb. (NM)" (07/2023)

The dense, full-bodied 1989 is brilliantly made with huge, smoky, chocolatey, cassis aromas intermingled with scents of toasty oak. Well-layered, with a sweet inner-core of fruit, this awesomely endowed, backward, tannic, prodigious 1989 needs another 5-6 years of cellaring; it should last for three decades or more. Vinous: "The 1986 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a vintage I have tasted several times, including at the château, but this bottle is one of the best I have encountered. It has a vibrant nose of blackberry intermixed with cedar and a light ferrous note, perhaps even a suggestion of paprika as it moves into its secondary phase. Showing plenty of undergrowth, the bouquet coheres beautifully in the glass as subtle clove aromas manifest over time. The palate is fresh and lively with black fruit aplenty and quite strict tannins that lend it an off-dry feel. A straightforward blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, this was aged in 50% new oak before bottling. It has a simply wonderful character on the nose, classically styled with dried blackcurrants, some expressive smoky tinges redolent of smouldering tobacco, set in a beautifully defined style but with little currant, black bean, toast, truffle and cigar-box highlights along the way. The palate is superbly delineated just as the nose indicates, with a sinewy tension and a medium-bodied texture. So elegantly poised, with a rich substance, smoked fruit communicating some of the complex and savoury character of the nose, with tightly knit tannins and fresh acidity. Just divine;this should age brilliantly.

Dark blackcurrants with smokey tobacco, liquorice and slate. Cool straight away, fresh but so perfectly mouthfilling, not sweet like 2020, this is more cooling and fresh, blue fruit, black cherry, fleshy like fruit skin texture. Dark, I love the 2019s because they're more controlled and serious but so nuanced. To me this is how a great Pauillac can taste, serious, deep, classic Cabernet markers, lots of minerality in the flint and stoney aspects, strong tannins and a powerful, muscular structure with minty sides. An amazing Pauillac, this is really my style. Still so full of concentration and life, this will last forever. (GH)

This was one of my 100 point potentials when tasting En Primeur, and it's fully delivering. It has closed down in the way that Petit Mouton has opened up, and here I really feel the full power of the tannic grip, one of the highest amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon on record, coiled and still-concealing a ton of graphite, cocoa bean, cool blue fruits set against creamy damson, cigar box, crayon, sandalwood, incense, promise. A long lived Mouton, with depth, power and balance at just over 13%, the magic of these soils.

The 2009 Lafite was exquisite, and it spoke to me immediately as a wine of perfection, with a pronounced, forward aroma of blackcurrant and pomegranate fruit with hints of violets, spice, smoke, and earth. The texture was lush and seductive, with impressive density, balanced freshness, and enough extract to draw this to an unbelievably long finish. Oddly to me, it was not the unanimous favourite of the assembled tasters, but defending this beautiful wine is a battle I will eagerly take on. (CC)
This needs time in the glass, but unfurls to reveal cedar, cinnamon, tobacco, cassis and rose notes. It's heady and confident stuff that I've tasted several times over the past few months and have been hugely impressed by, especially with food. (JA)

Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (100DC, 98JA, 98RP, 97VN, 96JS). Decanter: "A demure yet confident beauty, the 1982 Lafite is in its prime and will delight anyone privy to an audience. Scents of tobacco, sandalwood and spice box waft with increasing intensity as this sits in the glass, then it floats across the palate leaving a persistent trail of stony minerals: flint and graphite along with preserved cherries are laced with sweet, smoky incense, and radiant acidity gives a perception of weightlessness while shedding light on the wine’s depths. So effortlessly and elegantly framed, and as exquisitely perfect as this is now, there is nothing to suggest it will fade any time soon. (MM)" (05/2023)

Bid on this 3 liter of 2003 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (3L) (96JS, 95RP, 94WE, 94WS, 93ST). James Suckling: "I love the nose of roses, mint, and currants. This is complex, full bodied, with loads of fruit. A powerful wine, with so much material. Fresh and juicy, but still massive. Pull the cork after 2014." (03/2011)

Bid on this bottle of 1975 Château Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (94JG, 93WS, 91TWI, 91VN), a fully mature Second Growth from one of Pauillac’s most celebrated estates and a standout of the 1975 vintage, now drinking at its peak at 50 years of age. John Gilman writes: “Our most recent bottle of the 1975 Pichon-Lalande showed beautifully on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in an excellent blend of cassis, dark berries, Cuban cigar wrapper, coffee bean, a complex base of gravelly soil tones, cedar and a topnote of tobacco leaf... This is one 1975 where the tannins really seem to have relaxed nicely... This is now one of my favorite Left Bank wines from the vintage.” (06/2025)
