Insider's Advantage
A widely distributed Cabernet Sauvignon expression offering ripe boysenberry and blackberry aromas, mingling with hints of jerky, dried herbs, and olive tapenade. The palate is plush and juicy, edged by a light grip of tannin and a lift of acidity. A generous, fruit-forward Paso red that’s built to please. (BC)
The 2023 Zinfandel Paso Robles is made from 100% Zinfandel grown at Benito Dusi Ranch, the vines old and established; Ridge's first vintage was 1967. Featuring full-bodied, jammy red fruit, it is juicy, broad, and fleshy while also offering a high-toned, restrained style. A hallmark of the vineyard is its great acidity, with brightness a consistent characteristic across vintages. Round, it's not sweet but allows enough sweetness from the fruit to be lush and appealing from start to finish, spending 12 months in 15% new American oak. Drink now through 2033. (VB)
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon wafts up with an inviting mix of crushed blackberries and violet pastille. Soft textured and round, it splashes across the palate with ripe wild berry fruit lifted by a hint of citrus and spice. Gently tannic and long, this leaves a dark floral resonance and a slight licorice tinge to linger on. (EG)
Based on 96% Syrah and 2% each of Roussanne and Viognier, the 2021 Syrah York Mountain has a juicy, medium to full-bodied, ripe, yet still somehow cool climate-like personality in its red, blue and black fruits as well as notes of peppery herbs, iron, black olive, and violet-driven aromas and flavors. It's balanced and has a layered, sexy mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This magical Syrah flirts with perfection. It benefits from plenty of air (I followed this bottle for multiple days), and it’s going to see its 20th birthday in fine form (although I love it today).
A Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe fruit aromas that leap from the glass, leading to a luscious, generous palate of black and purple stewed fruits and pie filling. Cedar and sweet spices frame a very long, velvety finish, with a wash of chocolate on the back palate. An indulgent, sought-after style of Cabernet Sauvignon in Paso Robles. (BC)

Carbonic maceration ferments intact grape clusters in a carbon-dioxide-rich environment rather than beginning with conventional crushing. This 2025 release brings an Italian grape variety together with a modern winemaking method.

The 2023 Farmhouse Red is a spicy, lifted effort, with citrus zest and sour cherries forming its inviting bouquet. The palate is left completely refreshed, with nuances of licorice and sage lingering long. (EG)
With 36% Petite Sirah added to 62% Cabernet Sauvignon (plus some Malbec and Saint-Macaire), this wine over-delivers in mouthfeel, aromas, flavors, and structure for the price. In this expressive vintage, it shows determination, grip, and finesse. The sense of concentration—dried violets, caramel, plum skin tannins, cherry ganache, and minerality—exhibits complexity and stamina.
The 2023 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard is fruity, creamy, full, cordial, deep, and round. Fleshy and opulent, it has a lot of immediate charm. Drink over the coming 6-8 years, though it could age longer for all I know. Drink 2026-2040.
A brooding, dramatic beast, with cocoa teeth-grabbing tannins. Graphite, espresso, cedar, and black olives co-mingle in this savory sipper. Blackberry and plum are heroic, lengthening the flavors and intensity of the wine’s inherent ripeness on the finish.
A more Syrah-dominated release, the 2021 Dirt Worshipper is textbook Syrah magic with is peppery, gamey dark fruits, iron, tapenade, sandalwood, and violet-laced aromas and flavors. It's rich, medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. Based on 88% Syrah, 7% Petit Verdot, 4% Graciano, and 1% Viognier that was fermented with 40% whole clusters and aged 20 months in 25% new French and Hungarian oak, it will probably merit a triple-digit rating in 4-5 years, and I’d be happy to put this up with the best Syrahs out there.

Bid on this magnum of 2015 Saxum "Rocket Block - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Willow Creek District Rhône Blend (1.5L) (100JD, 98RP, 98VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "As with the Bone Rock, there are only four barrels of the 2015 James Berry Vineyard Rocket Block, a blend of 89% Grenache and 11% Mataró, from a tiny parcel, that was all co-fermented. Offering the essence of kirsch liqueur, ground pepper, gravelly minerality, herbes de Provence, and licorice, it reminds me of a great vintage of Domaine de Marcoux’s Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes.
