What a great Chenin Blanc - beautifully perfumed like magnolia flowers, with delicate, sweet, yet zesty floral notes right at the front. Sourced from the limestone soils of the Vista Verde vineyard in San Benito County, this wine feels like a study in restraint. Joseph Ryan's winemaking choices include a light press of the clusters, fermentation in neutral French oak puncheons, and a patient 18-month elevage, including six months in stainless steel before bottling. Ryan says it helps to 'tighten' the wine’s frame, focusing the fruit and refreshing the acidity after its time in wood. The high acidity supports a palate that shows a lightly viscous, slightly waxy mouthfeel with flavors of quince paste, crunchy pears, and lemon peel. While the citrus notes dominate through the finish, there's a somewhat savory, umami note at the end that grounds the floral lift. It's a wine that feels very intentional and interesting.
The 2025 Albariño Kristy Vineyard is so effusive and enticing. Broad-shouldered, tropical and nearly electric in feel, the 2025 delivers salty, vivacious energy with confidence and drive. The acidity is high, that much is for sure, but there’s so much character and charm here. What a fabulous testament to this variety in this part of the world. (BN)
I cannot even tell you how excited I was when I saw there was a new vintage of the Stirm Gimelli Vineyard Chardonnay. My heart leapt and I heard the horns of Righteousness and Goodness echo in my ears and I knew that it was true, there was justice and wonder left to be found in this world. We will be okay. The nose is a little more subtle, but there's this whisp of jasmine swirling around the fruit, super appealing and just a little touch of the exotic. The fruit is this really ripe and perfect apple, soft pear, lemon candy, and lemon zest, with just this little touch of pith in the far back. The fruit pops on the palate with this really juicy brightness, really ripe apple drenched in lemon curd, and a little bit of white flowers and pear blossom on the finish. It's just so delicious, and it's happened again. Aaron loves it, still loves it, is going to continue to love it. I would help Ryan Stirm hide a body I like this wine so much.
The nose on this bottling is very brisk and tightly woven, offering aromas of lime-soaked gravel, Asian pear and white blossoms. The palate is zippy with acidity and chalky in texture, with honeydew and slightly riper pear flavors.

Composed of 58% old-vine (planted in 1964) Riesling from Wirz Vineyard, 38% Chenin Blanc from Gimeli (aka El Gabilan) Vineyard, and 4% each of Pinot Noir and ancient-vine Cabernet Pfeffer—all meticulously sourced fruit grown on granite and limestone mixed gravel soils. “Netptunite,” named after a rare gemstone found in the old mines of San Benito County, underwent spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel and neutral oak where the wine aged on its fine lees and underwent full malolactic. Bottled unfined after a delicate filtration for clarity, only 200 cases were produced. Juicy lychee, fragrant nectarine, tangerine zest, and orange blossoms—clean, dry, 12.5% ABV, medium-bodied and so full of flavor. This is a mesmerizing sensory experience—something completely different and I love it!

A fresh, fruity, aromatic red with a nose of spices, cinnamon, black cherries, tart cherries and raspberries. The palate shows a medium body, a rather broad mouthfeel, some soft tannin and a ripe character overall. Drink now. Screw cap.
A rarity in California, the 2025 Cachudo Arinto La Marea Pierce Ranch is a celebration of Arinto, a grape that handles heat and heavier soils well and can carry crisp acidity through the extreme heat. Winemaker Ian Brand makes the case here for its deliciousness too, the third vintage from Pierce Ranch, both barrel and stainless-fermented for eight months on the lees. Delicious in slatey pear and a lightness of spice, drink now through 2035.

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2022 The Third Twin (Sine Qua Non) "Nuestra Señora del Tercer Gemelo" Central Coast Red Blend (OWC - 98VN, 97JD) in original wood. Vinous: "The 2022 Nuestra Señora del Tercer Gemelo has a powerful savory profile that immediately commands attention, with chaparral, tobacco, petrichor and white truffle wrapped around a deep core of inky black fruit. Massively built yet incredibly bright, it carries juicy, reviving acidity and a surprising elegance despite its sheer size. Layers unfurl with air—game, graphite, smoked herbs—adding to the kaleidoscopic personality. The blend is 44% Grenache, 35% Syrah, 7.2% Mourvèdre, 7% Graciano, 4.7% Petite Sirah and 1.5% Viognier. So structured and intense, with crushed dark violets, salt, and redolent blue fruits, forest floor. Merk Vineyard is on an old uplifted seafloor in the Carmel Valley appellation. It borrows so much saline freshness and dancing red berries from vines that are only five or six years old.

Gustavo Sotelo spends his days as a winemaker at Scribe in Sonoma, but he explores his family's history and passions with the Orixe Sotelo label alongside his wife. The winery says, "The Nebola bottling was made with reverence for the very fun, refreshing, low alcohol, bright, and slightly spritzy wines of the region of Getariko Txakolina in the Spanish Basque country. The 2024 vintage is charged with aromas of prickly pear and lime, interlaced with white tea tones. On the palate the wine brings everything one could expect from a classic Txakoli wine; mineral driven and slightly spritzy but with the bonus of juicy white peach and pomelo that comes from the added sunlight that our grapes get in California."
