Perhaps one of Australia's most famed sauvignon blancs with a seemingly unnerving level of quality for the pricepoint. No slouch here, a zesty, fresh, bright and crisp rendering of the variety. Resplendent with passionfruit, just-ripe pineapple, lime and cut-grass characters between the bouquet and palate, very even, flows well, finishes with decent length and a light chalky pucker. Just so, done well, easy drinking and moderately complex to boot. (MB)
Lifted and perfumed aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, cassia bark and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity, showing notes of blueberry bush, rhubarb and spices. A lovely balance of bright and lifted fruit with a savory undertone. Delicious.
Insider's Advantage
Aromas of red cherries, ground cooking spice, dried herbs and bark. Medium- to full-bodied with silky, fruit-soaked tannins. Rather expressive and bright with driving acidity and lovely spicy complexity. Lingering and steady.
Hand picked and whole-bunch pressed, as is de rigueur. The skin-inflection confers textural intrigue and considerably more complexity than otherwise. Freshness and chew, here. Super-intense of flavour. A lather of lime blossom, green apple slushy and jasmine cascade along a chalky beam of acidity. Long and pliant. Very impressive, auguring for an extremely bright future. Wild fermented; bottled without filtering or fining. A really interesting and pleasing flavour profile that leans into bitter cherry, amaro-like characters, juniper, pepper, thyme – and we have a ripper of a pinot noir that goes savoury and structured. Very fresh feeling, too. The name would suggest something more loose-knit and easygoing, this is serious architecture and savouriness instead. And great for it. A distinct pinot noir that may polarise some for its herbal lean and veins of minerally tannin, but it is compelling. (MB)
