Henri Jayer Echezeaux Grand Cru
1984 Henri Jayer Echezeaux Grand Cru

Bid on this bottle of 1984 Henri Jayer Echezeaux Grand Cru. According to Jasper Morris, MW: "Henri Jayer's personal philosophy begun with the observation that 'wine must not be brought up in cotton-wool' and 'let nature go'. He was adamant that one cannot replace artificially elements in a wine which are absent at the start. Tinkering with musts and wine to adjust the results for inadequate fruit is not the way to achieve quality. Jayer channeled his energy and expertise in producing top-class grapes to vinify from vines that are more than 50 years old. Jayer's vinification methods were not particularly unusual but they reminded us that 'wine is for pleasure so one seeks as perfect an equilibrium as possible.'"

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2019 Trimbach "Sélection de Vieilles Vignes" Riesling Alsace (95JS, 92WE, 91WS). James Suckling: "Rich, mouth-filling and highly structured, this has a touch of exotic aromas (mangosteen!), but isn’t a jot too ripe or weighty. In fact, it has wonderful silkiness, in spite of the considerable mineral power at the imposing finish. Drink or hold." (11/2020)

Les Cousins (Vice Versa & L'Aventure) California Cabernet Sauvignon
2021 Les Cousins (Vice Versa & L'Aventure) California Cabernet Sauvignon

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2021 Les Cousins (Vice Versa & L'Aventure) California Cabernet Sauvignon (98JD, 97RP). Jeb Dunnuck: " A blend of the best barrels from Vice Versa and L'Aventure, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a brilliant wine that I wish every reader could taste, as it shows the best of two regions I love. Ripe cassis, blackberries, spring flowers, and a kiss of leafy herbs, as well as some classic Paso Robles chalky minerality, all emerge from this full-bodied, deep, plush, yet focused and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins here are brilliant, as is the purity of fruit, and while I love it today, it's going to evolve for another 20-25 years." (02/2024)

2017 Domaine François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Forêt"

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2017 Domaine François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Forêt". Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "A panoramic nose but at the same time quite subtle – the intensity is not so strong. Here the cool flavours are as wide as the Montmains but with a mm of extra cushion – so silky too. The finishing flavours can be compared too – but great as this wine is, I just prefer the extra strictness of the Montmains today."(01/2025)

Bid on this bottle of 1993 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru (96BH, 95RP, 95WS, 94JG, 93VN). Burghound: "A wonderfully complex, spicy and elegant nose features nuances of sous-bois, dried flowers and wet stone. The immensely concentrated and intense mineral-suffused flavors possess the same excellent complexity and a simply gorgeous mouth feel, all wrapped in a sappy, palate staining and strikingly long finale. A classic Chevalier. " (04/2018)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Louis Jadot (Domaine des Heritiers) Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru "Demoiselles" (98RP, 94BH). Wine Advocate: "This wine takes about 5 minutes in the glass to begin opening, but wow, what a nose once it gets going! Mainly savoury aromas of toasted nut, marmite, and white truffles over lemon tart, butterscotch, creme brulee and chalk boards. A high level of refreshing acidity cuts through the silken, concentrated palate. Very long finish of pineapple pastry, dried mango, preserved ginger and minerals. (LPB)" (05/2010)

Louis Jadot "Le Montrachet" Grand Cru
1989 Louis Jadot "Le Montrachet" Grand Cru

Bid on this bottle of 1989 Louis Jadot "Le Montrachet" Grand Cru (98RP). Wine Advocate: "The super-opulent, highly extracted Montrachet conjures up everything that this 19.76-acre grand cru vineyard should, but so rarely does produce. There is density, balance, a haunting combination of minerals and ripe fruit, and a finish that exceeds 60 seconds. Interestingly, it is more developed and softer than the Chevalier-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne. However, do not expect it to evolve any faster than those two wines as this big, splendidly concentrated wine should last for at least 20-25 years." (02/1992)

Joseph Drouhin "Les Clos" Chablis Grand Cru
1996 Joseph Drouhin "Les Clos" Chablis Grand Cru

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1996 Joseph Drouhin "Les Clos" Chablis Grand Cru. 98 points Wine Spectator: "Watch out Montrachets! This may burst with violet, spice and floral aromas from all that new oak, but the wood is balanced by the sweet core of ripe flavors (pineapple, pear, mango and mandarin). Opulent and lush, this full-bodied Chablis is at its best on the silky, mineral-laden midpalate, which is nearly flawless. Lovely, long finish. Tempting now, but should improve with cellaring. Drink now through 2010. 500 cases made.' (05/98)

Of the 2022 Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese #5 Mosel, James Suckling writes: "The astonishing precision of the exotic ripeness and enveloping floral aromas make this extremely concentrated 2022 Mosel Spatlese stand head and shoulders above the majority of the vintage. Then comes the fabulous wet stone freshness that drives the extremely long and totally cool finish. Great aging potential. Drink or hold." (08/2023)

Of the 2022 Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett #3 Mosel, James Suckling writes: "The staggering nose of fresh pineapple invites you to a voyage to the tropics with their rich colors and lush vegetation. Then comes the no less amazing palate which is simultaneously extraordinary in concentration yet miraculously feather light. Great citrusy freshness, but it’s impossible to say which citrus fruit it is because it seems to flicker from Amalfi lemon to bergamot and then to pomelo, and on and on. Almost endless finish with the merest hint of unfermented grape sweetness. Drink or hold." (08/2023)

Supremely elegant, it is not quite as dense as the 2001 yet reveals outstanding depth, purity, and concentration. Lush, stony red and black fruits are interspersed with violets and tangy raspberries in its exceptionally long, expressive, plump character." (06/2003)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru "Forêt" (93BH, 92JG, 91VN, 90RP). Burghound: "(opened from personal storage). This is turning out to be even better than I originally envisioned with its classic nose offering plenty of Chablis character on the cool, pure and airy aromas that are comprised mostly of smoky white orchard fruit and various citrus scents. The racy, intense and overtly mineral-driven medium weight flavors possess a lovely mouth feel before culminating in a textured, balanced and saline finish that is both bone dry and tightly wound. As one would reasonably expect given how young this is, the '14 Forêt is very much still on the way up and while I opened a bottle out of curiosity, I would strongly advise allowing this beauty to at least reach its 10th birthday first." Bid on this magnum of 1989 Heidsieck & Co Monopole "Diamant Bleu" Brut Champagne (1.5L) (91WE). 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Really fine for a low-acid vintage, there’s an intriguing nose here with white pepper, sandalwood and pine-nut elements. There are mature notes to the apple, toast and pepper flavors, good backbone, and the texture is just lovely. This well-developed example still has youthful elements, and closes with a grapefruit-mineral finish that is both relaxed and complex." DRC Domaine de la Romanee-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru

Bid on this bottle of 1980 DRC Domaine de la Romanee-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru (99RP, 94BH, 92JG, 92WS). Wine Advocate: "The 1980 La Tâche Grand Cru is an extraordinary wine at the peak of its powers. Unfurling in the glass with exotic aromas of wilted rose petals, raspberries and cherries mingled with exotic spices, coniferous forest floor, blood orange, smoked tea and game bird, it's full-bodied, velvety and sensual, with a deep, multidimensional core, rich and powdery tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, perfumed finish. From a bottle that had never left Burgundy, this is a profound wine that I'd single out as the stylistic successor of the stunning 1962. Interestingly, Aubert de Villaine observes that in 1980, all the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's wines were bottled direct from the barrel, without any racking. (WK)" (02/2021)

Vinous: "The 2016 Chablis Forêt 1er Cru is a little more tight-lipped on the nose compared to the Les Montmains, requiring more coaxing from the glass. That could be a sign of bottle shock. The palate is very promising with a crisp line of acidity, gentle grip and a live-wire, spicy finish that matches the exotic style of the vintage. This "warms up" in the glass and shows great potential, but may require your patience." (08/2018)

Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule ((94-95RP), 93WS, 92WE). Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule offers gardenia, orange blossom, apple jelly, and honey in the nose. Malt and peach join the floral and apple essences on the palate, which alternates silken and buttery textural expressions. Acidity is not at all obvious here, but its presence is felt in balanced sweetness and in finishing penetration and energy. Malt, butter cream and flowers linger in the empty glass. If this were sold solely as perfume it would already justify its price. But it would really be a shame to open a bottle for at least 15 years, and it could be held for at least 40. (There were two bottlings of this wine – one this year – of which I tasted the first, A.P. #17 07.) (DS)" (10/2008)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2018 Domaine William Fevre Chablis 1er Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" (94WE, 92JS, 91WS, 90VN). Wine Enthusiast: "Subtle aromatics combine pear peel, creamy candlewax and green citrus into an alluring, fresh nose on this wine. The palate comes in with rounded ripeness. It redoubles that sense of creaminess that rests on a yeasty, billowing texture that is backed by bright lemon. The interplay between freshness, ripeness and texture creates harmony. Lovely chalkiness appears on the finish. (AK)" (12/2020)
