I'm fairly familiar with most of the top tier Rums that line our shelves but only recently had the opportunity to sample this wonderful, more recent arrival. It's a Mexican made Rum that begs to be taken seriously. I was instantly taken with the smooth mouthfeel as well as the overall richness and balance. Delicious flavors of brown sugar , salted caramel and vanilla abound and zero sugar is added.

Piloncillo is a traditional unrefined sugar made by concentrating sugarcane juice, linking this añejo rum to a long-standing Mexican ingredient. Produced in Michoacán and aged in a Jerez cask, Granalta brings together regional rum production, Mexican cane tradition, and Spanish cask influence.
