Samaroli’s single-cask bottlings present rum from individual origins with the cask history clearly in view. This release is an undisclosed Nicaraguan rum distilled in 2004 from molasses in a column still, then matured for ten years in the tropics in an ex-bourbon cask. Bottled in Scotland in 2023 at 50% ABV, it is drawn from a single cask, number 15, yielding just 294 bottles. Samaroli’s tasting description points to an austere, complex profile, with exotic and balsamic aromas, followed by chlorophyll, white chocolate, lacquer and ground coffee on the palate. The long tropical maturation gives this bottling a distinct identity within the producer’s range.
