Bid on this 2-half-bottle lot of 1975 Trotanoy, Pomerol (375ml) (97RP, 96ST, 96VN, 94JG). Wine Advocate: The 1975 Trotanoy can be an extraordinary wine on the right day. This was the right day. Served blind from a magnum, unaware of its age, I was struck by the depth of its color. The bouquet is almost ineffably complex, a mixture of red and black fruit, black truffle (indicating its Pomerol origins), sage and dried rose petals. It was the delineation and sheer confidence of the aromatics that leaves you spellbound. The palate is beautifully structured, very Left Bank in style thanks to its tertiary nature, yet bridled with disarming tension and energy from start to finish. There is a twist of sour cherry right on the aftertaste, completing a stunning Trotanoy. I very much doubt I will ever encounter an example of this outstanding Pomerol as good as this again. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1975 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (95JS, 90RP). James Suckling: "I absolutely love the nose of licorice, minerals, black currants, and berries. Full and slightly hard and acidic, but I could smell it all night. It softens and turns velvety and dusty on the finish with lots of fruit." (01/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1975 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (93RP). Wine Advocate: "Three late-released bottles of the 1975 Lafite Rothschild were drinking beautifully, soaring from the glass with scents of sweet red berries, camphor, cigar box and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a generous core of fruit, melting tannins and succulent acids, this is a soft, seamless wine despite the inherently firm style of the vintage, and it's at its peak today. Bid on this bottle of 1975 Kenwood "Artist Series" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon. The 1975 vintage was the first Artist Series produced by Kenwood Vineyards and features "Hillside, " a specially commissioned work of art from Californian artist David Lance Goines. The original version featured a naked woman on the hillside and a second version had a skeleton. Both of these are extremely rare because both were banned by the BATF! Kenwood's tasting notes: "This wine is made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. It exhibits a characteristic Cabernet nose, and a ripe berry flavor permeates the taste. The wine was aged in small oak barrels and will continue to improve with bottle age."

Bid on this bottle of 1975 Château Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (94JG, 93WS, 91TWI, 91VN), a fully mature Second Growth from one of Pauillac’s most celebrated estates and a standout of the 1975 vintage, now drinking at its peak at 50 years of age. John Gilman writes: “Our most recent bottle of the 1975 Pichon-Lalande showed beautifully on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet wafting from the glass in an excellent blend of cassis, dark berries, Cuban cigar wrapper, coffee bean, a complex base of gravelly soil tones, cedar and a topnote of tobacco leaf... This is one 1975 where the tannins really seem to have relaxed nicely... This is now one of my favorite Left Bank wines from the vintage.” (06/2025)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1975 La Mission Haut Brion, Graves (99DC, 97RP, 94JG, 94JS, 93ST, 93VN). Decanter: "Although it was not universally recognised as a great year, 1975 produced some outstanding wines. This example of La Mission Haut-Brion must rank near the forefront, with its superb depth of cedary flavours, hints of gunflint, smoke, truffle and tar. The texture is silky yet still elegant, balanced, and holding very well for just shy of 50 years of age. Although it is mature, it shows no signs of decline, and there will be no harm in holding this to its 50th anniversary or beyond. (CC)" (09/2022)

Insider's Advantage
The 1975 vintage is not a legendary one for Nacional, but the wine is still full of charm and the complexity of full maturity. The complex and ethereal nose offers up scents of cherries, cigar smoke, heather, coffee, sous bois, clove-like spices and a touch of ginger honey in the upper register. On the palate the wine is fullish, complex and intensely flavored, with lovely filigree, moderate depth, melting tannins and lovely length and grip on the finish. This is a touch low in acidity by the very high standards of Nacional, but this is a very, very pleasant drink. Drink between 2012-2035.
Bid on this bottle of 1975 Château de la Grangerie Léon Beyries (De Gérault) “La Hauresse” 46 Year Old K&L Exclusive Armagnac, a rare vintage Ténarèze Armagnac aged in the 11th- and 12th-century monastery buildings beside this 17th-century château, likely the only spirit at K&L matured on hallowed ground. Distilled from Ugni Blanc grown on sandy, gravel-rich soils reminiscent of the Bas-Armagnac by neighbor Léon Beyries of Domaine de Gérault, the stocks passed to Grangerie after his death. It was raised traditionally in 100% Gascon oak and is typically bottled around 43%. After more than four decades in barrel, expect dried apricot, prune, candied orange peel and fig layered with toffee, vanilla, roasted nuts, leather, cigar box and rancio, with a silky, mellow palate and an exceptionally long, elegant finish. A rare window into very old Armagnac and an outstanding value for brandy collectors.
