Bid on this bottle of 1968 Souverain Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95JG). John Gilman: "As good as the 1974 and 1970 Souverain cabernets are, and they are very good, the 1968 is a notable step up in quality from those two lovely wines. The nose is deep, pure and simply brilliant, as it offers up notes of black cherries, sweet cassis, a touch of summer truffle, sweet pipe tobacco, delicate undertones of eucalyptus, coffee and a lovely base of soil. Interestingly, I left a bit of this wine in the glass over a couple of hours, and rather than fade, it developed additional aromatic notes of tangy raspberries and a violet topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, à point, and very pure, with fine mid-palate depth, impeccable balance and focus and a very long, complex and very intensely flavored finish. This wine is best on the backend today, which shows almost shocking grip for a forty-one year-old bottle of cabernet. A really stunning bottle of wine. " (03/2009)

NO REFUNDS AND RETURNS STRICTLY PROHIBITED******* This astonishing release from Bowmore represents one of the most ambitious and conceptually refined whiskies ever created by the historic Islay distillery. ARC-54 is a 54 year old single malt matured with extraordinary restraint and precision, spending its long life in a combination of second fill European oak sherry butt and third fill American oak hogshead before being brought together for a final 15 month marrying period. Bottled at 44.3% and presented as part of Bowmore’s ongoing collaboration with Aston Martin, this whisky is both a sensory and philosophical exploration of time, balance, and flow. Inspired by the aerodynamic forms of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the sculptural glass decanter mirrors the liquid within, capturing movement, depth, and reflection as an extension of the whisky itself. The profile is remarkably vivid for its age, offering spun gold color, layered aromas of syrupy vanilla, soft butterscotch, buttery shortbread, tropical mango, ripe peach, orange zest, toasted oak, candied walnut, and a subtle lift of eucalyptus. On the palate, rich fruit sweetness leads with green apple, bergamot, and lime, followed by salted caramel, floral tones, warming ginger, sweet cinnamon, and a gentle rise of whispering peat smoke.
