Founded in 2015 by self-taught distiller Hillhamn Salome, Flor de Luna brings Mexico’s culinary traditions into the bottle through an inventive range of spirits and liqueurs. Pan de Muerto takes its inspiration from the sugar-dusted sweet bread baked in the weeks surrounding Día de los Muertos. Traditionally flavored with orange blossom, citrus zest, or anise, this enriched bread is an essential part of the celebration, its rounded shape representing the cycle of life and death. Flor de Luna builds its liquid interpretation on a foundation of house-made Ron Piloncillo, adding orange blossom and sweetening with a house-made syrup of cane sugar and natural vanilla extract. The recipe connects the floral and vanilla elements of the beloved bread with a substantial rum base, bottled at a full 40% ABV, or 80 proof. An imaginative expression of a deeply rooted Mexican tradition from the producer behind Xila.
