2023 Marie-Pierre Manciat Pouilly-Fuissé "Les Petites Bruyeres"

I tasted the 2023 Petites Bruyères in October and was immediately struck by how it straddled the line perfectly between fresh and richness. Plenty of Pouilly-Fuissé goes heavy and sleepy once the malo rounds it out, but this keeps its posture straight and linear, with lemon curd and white peach on the nose, a creamy middle, and a finish that snaps back to stone and citrus pith. It’s the bottle for a Sunday that starts late and goes long, or for the friend who swears they don’t like oaky Chardonnay (this isn’t that)!
