Reviewed February 2026Aromas of currants, cedar, mahogany, bark and orange peel say this is distinctly Tuscan. It’s medium-bodied with softness and freshness that bring you back for more. Very soft yet fine tannins. Juicy and subtle. So delicious now. Drink or hold. (JS)

Decanter
Almost equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Guidalberto remains impressive value for the quality on offer, but buyers should be aware that 2024 is a lighter offering with less density of fruit than in previous years. But those who embrace the vintage will be rewarded with a juicy dark berry core with velvety tannins and flecks of cherry and pomegranate. Lifted herbal and floral aromatics make this so inviting. Breezy, easy and fun.

The 2024 Guidalberto pours a deep ruby hue and is bright and expressive with notes of graphite, rosemary, thyme, redcurrant, cranberry, orange, and clove spice. Medium to full-bodied, it has a more vertical profile, with zesty acidity, chalky structure, and a nimble, refined texture. Fresh and balanced, with a focus on clarity over weight, this wine is reflective of the cooler, rainy 2024 season. Drink 2026-2036.

Aromas of cassis, blue flowers, vanilla, oak and Mediterranean scrub form the nose on the 2024 Guidalberto. The savory palate features black currant, dark spices and bitter almonds alongside chalky, slightly drying tannins. Bright acidity keeps it energized. (KO)
Notes
Guidalberto grew from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vineyards developed along Bolgheri's Viale dei Cipressi and in the surrounding hills. Tenuta San Guido introduced it with the 2000 vintage; the name honors the family ancestor responsible for laying out that cypress avenue. For the 2024, JebDunnuck.com's review describes a nimble texture shaped by bright acidity and chalky grip. Vinous finds dark red fruit, cedar and herbs, with some evolution in the bouquet, and places the wine's drinking window in the near to medium term.
