Reviewed October 2009A little raisiny, with blackberry, licorice and just a hint of tar. Full-bodied, with soft, velvety tannins and a wild richness on the finish. This is a winery making things happen in Panzano. Merlot and Sangiovese. Best after 2011. 330 cases made, 165 cases imported.

This now shows beautiful softness and complexity with chocolate, berry and balsamic. Walnut shell. Full-bodied, juicy and delicious. Drink now.
Notes
Casaloste introduced Inversus in 2003 as a Toscana IGT, using Merlot alongside Sangiovese at its estate in Panzano in Chianti. The 2004 is an early vintage of this selectively produced cuvée. Wine Spectator's 2009 review emphasized its ample body, soft tannins, and blackberry and licorice accents. In 2014, James Suckling described a supple texture with berry fruit, chocolate, balsamic notes and walnut shell.
