2023 Ottosoldi Gavi Organic

Gavi puts the place name on the label; the grape behind it is Cortese. Ottosoldi’s Gavi comes from a single vineyard in Serravalle Scrivia, in southeastern Piedmont. The estate’s roughly five hectares lie in a southwest-facing amphitheater, on marl and limestone at 250–300 meters above sea level, and its vineyard work follows organic practices. The project brings together the Moccagatta and Marsiaj families. Its name recalls the grandfather who bought his first plot for eight coins, a story kept at the center of the estate. Cortese is central to Ottosoldi’s range, which includes both this still Gavi and a traditional-method sparkling wine made from the variety. This 2023 carries the Gavi DOCG appellation.
